25 January Freedom and Justice from Martin Luther King Jr. We have become a nation of consumers, and somehow, we are losing our ability to produce for ourselves. The production of strong and critical ideas and actions is something that Martin Luther King Jr. has led in his times. He is an inspiration for people to never remain still when experiencing oppression and that society must always find creative ways to resolve social ills and issues. Martin Luther King Jr. is a model of freedom and justice.
He asks people to not accept everything as permanent, particularly those laws and practices that entrench social inequality. He asserts the people’s free will in becoming active elements of social changes: “Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.” I want to be part of the light walkers, contributing to actions that make this world a better place. King, furthermore, leads people to alternative actions. He says: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” I admire his non-violent means of attaining social changes. I believe that we should also be creative in thinking about and resolving our social issues. King is a rousing transformational leader. He serves as an inspiration to me because he does not allow himself and his people to remain oppressed. He is also a creative thinker. He compels me to think of different ways that can solve problems. What does King mean to me? He is a role model and a hero, a hero who remains alive in the hearts of those who fight for the preservation of justice and freedom.
