People would consider stress, personal issues, and pressure as push factors to smoking. On the other hand, some people consider smoking due to curiosity about deriving pleasure and satisfaction from puffing. In the current society, many people smoke since it looks fashionable and outgoing. Therefore, in their perception, smoking looks cool.

Such smoking practices lead to different effects that alter your daily activities.  The most common effect is addiction. Scientific research shows that smoking one cigarette can lead to the affection of smoking more and more cigarettes. This results in addiction and might become part of the life of the victim. Furthermore, smoking has horrible effects on the human body. When an individual smokes a cigarette, they cause major health problems to themselves and the people around them.  This activity shortens the lifespan of all individuals affected by cigarette smoke. That is why it can result in cancer, emphysema, and heart disease (Slovic, 2001).

Smokers are unable to quit smoking cigarettes because it is addictive. Cigarettes contain tobacco and nicotine that are highly addictive. Thus, the body and mind adapt to the nicotine effect quickly leading to addiction. Read More
