Event details The event which was prepared and hosted by Hispanic chamber of commerce, of contra Costa County, was the 3rd festival of Latin culture. It was held on August, 2012. This event had free admission and was open to the public. The event was held from 10 am to 7 pm. This means that it was a full day event. It was held in the vibrant streets of downtown, Walnut Creek. The total number of expected people was 2000.Analysis I was married into a Caucasian family and surrounded by a remarkably different cultural mindset.
In terms of the connection between my experience of the Latin festival and Latino in the US, I am certainly not clear. I do not to know what to think. One thing is for sure, the United States comprises many ethnic groups, cultures and races. How the Latino fits into the American society, is still in a process of evolution. I attended the event. How Latinos adjust in languageSome Latinos will lose their original language. In addition, others will retain their Spanish fluency. It truly depends on the individual and his or her experience and chaises.
My experience and reactionElectric energy: Am attracted to the people who smile and enjoy themselves. The music was passionate and live. I could not resist moving to the rhythm of the salsa music, even though it is not my kind of music. I actually love rock music instead. There was smell and taste of delicious ethnic foods from all over central and Latin America. I also observed dancing children. Although I did not expect it, I felt like I was fitting. It was a visual feast. There were colorful booths, ethnic costumes, colorful people and different races.
The experienceI felt a sense of ethnic pride and richness from the people. There was a lot of joy from the music as people were having fun. The atmosphere looked easy and there was a sense of belonging. It was a great time to meet new friends and to socialize.I learnt that there is a lot of happiness in the Latin music I learnt that in contrast to rock concerts, it is not necessary to be drunk in order to genuinely enjoy the music. I also learnt that to my surprise, I actually fit into the Latin culture.
