Talk about myself - Essay Example

My-Self: This paper is a reflection about myself. This paper contains information about my career aspirations, and the reasons as to why I have chosen the career under consideration. This paper also contains information about my family, and the challenges I experience in attending University Education in United States. The main challenge is adapting to their cultural values, which are very different from those of Saudi Arabia. For example, the main language spoken in Saudi Arabia is Arabic, while the main language spoken in the United States is Arabic.

I will also talk about the leisure activities that I like to engage in. Just as discussed above, my name is Turki, and my age is 26 years old. My country of origin is Saudi Arabia, and I come from the province of Jeddah. It is important to denote that my country is an Islamic state, and on this basis, I am greatly influenced by the teaching of Islam. Based on my Islamic orientation, I grew up believing in honesty, respect for human lives, creating a positive relationship with others, and obedience to my superiors, especially my parents and teachers.

This is because a parent is somebody who is very important to an individual and he plays a great role in ensuring that the person under consideration grows up in a respectable manner. Because of the roles of my parents in bringing me up, I have great respects to them. It will be very unfair to mention my parents, without mentioning my siblings. I have three sisters, and eight brothers. Two of my eight brothers have wives, as well as two of my three sisters are married. While bringing us up, my parents instilled in us the concept of brother hood.

I together with my siblings, we love and respect each other. The love amongst us has contributed to a great extent on the manner in which we usually help each other when we are in trouble. It is always my wish and desire to be near my siblings whenever they are facing difficulties in their lives. This is a behavior that I also extend to my friends. I usually view my friends as my brothers, and on this note, the manner in which I treat my siblings, is the same as the manner in which I treat my friends.

However, it is very unfortunate that in the United States, I have been unable to make many friends. This is because of the language barrier. In the United States, the most dominant language is English, while I came from a background whereby the most dominant language is Arabic. It has been very difficult for me to learn English, especially the grammar part of it. On this basis, I am unable to communicate efficiently, and effectively, in a manner that can help me to make new friends. To improve on my English, I am embarking on a series of online trainings, to help me in developing my English to the required standard.

I believe this will help in improving my communication skills, and hence I will make new friends in this country. I attend the Tennessee State University, and I am pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. It is important to denote that I have great passion in engineering, and it has always been my wish to take a course in engineering. My passion in Engineering stems from the fact that I have a complete interest in machines, and this includes auto vehicle machines. On this note, it has always been my desire to have knowledge and skills of manufacturing these products, and also repairing them, in case they have a problem.

Pursuing a career in engineering therefore gives me great satisfaction, and I have plans of pursuing this course to the masters level, and if possible, to earn a PHD in this course. After this course, I am planning to go back to Saudi Arabia to look for a job there, and advance my skills. I am not only passionate about education; I am also passionate about sports. My favorite sports are swimming, and playing soccer. I am a great fun of my country’s national soccer team, always following all their international matches.

I also love and enjoy playing soccer. This sport usually fascinates me, and I’m always willing to spend my money for purposes of going to stadiums or social joints for purposes of watching this sport. I do not have much to talk about swimming, but I am a very good swimmer. I got this skill while pursuing my primary education in Saudi Arabia. Ever since acquiring this skill, I have always strived to improve on my capabilities. In conclusion, I am a very humble and religious person. I also believe in the power of education.

In as much as I have passion in engineering, I am also a sports person. This paper manages to effectively highlight these personal attributes of mine. My major challenge in attending university education in the United States is the language barrier. To solve this problem, I have embarked on a series of online learning to help in improving my English skills.
