As a matter of fact, surveillance in the UK is not known by most of her citizens and it is not due to the individuals’ ignorance but it is due to the thoroughness and down low nature of the surveillance.

Surveillance has indeed changed or impacted on the relationship between the state and its citizens and to some extent, the individuals themselves. The question remains, is surveillance of the citizens a good thing or a bad thing? I tend to bend towards the side that states surveillance as a good thing that benefits the lives of the citizens. b) Body i) Advantages of surveillance of citizens I. Social disorder over the past years and crime rates have been improving and the lives of the citizens have been in constant fear and risk.

The government had to come in and protect its people since that’s the reason as to why that form of government was elected. The government could not just let its people doubt its ability to contain and manage its territory thus with the vast improvement of technology, the government adopted the surveillance system so as to curb that loophole in the society. Surveillance system was adopted and indeed the crime rates and the social disorders were contained and minimized as much as possible. Can u say that the government did not act out of the fundamental interests of the public or citizens rather?

In other words, to ensure that the surveillance agencies are on a constant watch themselves by the legal bodies so as to ensure that their services are in order and follow the constitutional recommendations put in place for surveillance agencies.

Having some legal group to monitor the surveillance agencies ensures that at all times the contract is not breached or violated. And if so, the surveillance agency is prosecuted according to law. There have been cases of over extending one’s boundaries as far as privacy is concerned and most surveillance agencies find themselves in hot soups of being sued by people for violating this contract. In other words, justice is at all times adhered to by the surveillance organizations. III. It has also been also been brought to the knowledge of the surveillance agencies that in89case of any security breach the affected citizen should be notified so as to know and be aware thus reducing cases of being surprised by circumstances.

A breach is indeed a very serious and sensitive issue that needs to be addressed effectively and efficiently so as to ensure that the citizen or individual are enlightened on the issue in the most discrete way possible. This is one of the reasons that I tend to talk about surveillance being a good sign to the citizens since the citizens are informed when need be of situations
