He mainly depicted the influence of the international relations upon the major civilizations during the cold-war period. The literary work mainly reflects about the cultural differences between the different states within a particular civilization (Dunn 1-12). The writer posed his argument by mentioning an example, which states regarding the two different villages whose cultures depict diversified scenarios; however they still entail the Italian culture within it. He further explained his argument by revealing that the Italian culture is greatly different from the German culture, which stands as a vital constituent of the western civilization.
Correspondingly, he further mentioned that the western civilization poses no similarity with other major civilizations such as the Islamic civilization and the Confucian civilization.
