Introduction Global business environment has become highly competitive as several leading global organizations are trying to implement key strategies in their business process. Effective employee recruitment, selection and retention have become important for all the organizations as the skilled and effective employees are considered as the important and strongest asset of an organization. Now-a-days, the employers are trying to find effective and fresh university graduates to enhance their several business operations. It is important for the fresh graduates to avail effective knowledge and skills in their educational fields to achieve significant employment opportunity. However, the employers usually look for general behaviors and competencies that are important for the successful working. These aspects are often overlooked by the fresh university graduates but these are the basic things that the employers or recruitment officials want to find. Discussion The recruitment officers or the employers generally want ten important skills and competencies from the fresh university graduates. These are communication, commercial awareness, teamwork, problem solving, negotiation and persuasion, leadership, perseverance and motivation, organizations, confidence and ability to work under immense pressure. These ten aspects are discussed below in details. Communication Verbal communication and ability to listen are considered as important skills of an employee. Clear, focused and concise communication helps an employee to tailor his or her message for the target audience. On the other hand, listing to the views and suggestions of others can enhance and effective communication process. Clear and concise communication is required in an organization between the employers and employees to reduce the possibilities of conflict. Inadequate communication process can affect the business performance of the organization in several ways (Heneman, 22). Ultimately, it can affect the business performance of the organization. Looking into these mutterers, the employers try to hire fresh university graduates who avail good communication skill. Commercial Awareness Commercial awareness or business awareness is quite important of the fresh university graduates. The recruitment professionals always try to observe the knowledge and awareness level of the applicants during the recruitment process. According to the employers, effective knowledge about an organization can help an employee to perform in significant way. Teamwork Effective teamwork within the workplace can drive an organization towards successful business performance. The fresh university graduates need to prove that they are effective team player. In addition to this, the fresh university graduates should have the ability to delegate and mange other team members within the workplace (Lipman & Hall, 2008). Effective team management is about developing positive and effective working relationship to achieve professional and personal goals. Problem Solving Problem solving and decision making method is quite important for business operation. Effective problem solving and decision ability of the employees can help an organization to achieve successful business outcome. In addition to this, effective problem solving ability of the employees can help an organization to resolve critical issues during serious situations. Negotiation and Persuasion Effective negotiation and persuasion process of employees can help them to put forward in their desired ways. In addition to this, effective negotiation and persuasion process helps an employee to understand the background of several unknown individuals (Paper, 2007). This key understanding process and the effective negotiation ability of the employees can help the organization to meet business objectives within quick time period. Leadership It is true that each and every leading organization around the globe is trying to improve and maintain their workplace and environment and business operation in order to secure their market share in this competitive global business environment. The global business environment has become saturated as several organizations are competing with each other in similar kind of industry. Therefore, it is important for the organizations to hire effective employees or managers who have effective leadership skills. Effective leadership skill can help an organization in several ways. First of all, it can motivate the entire workforce to perform effectively (Chai, 2009). Secondly, effective leaders or the managers can guide his or her employees effectively towards the task objective. Skilled leaders can understand the ability and behavior of each and every employee within the group. The leaders and managers can guide entire team towards success based on their skill, experience and controlling the behaviors and attitude of entire group members (Armstrong, 29). The recruiters or the employers generally check the leadership skills of the fresh university graduates during the interview process through case solution process. Several organizations are facing leadership issues. In order to overcome the workplace related issues, the employers are trying to select skilled and effective leaders or the managers who can motivate the employees and can provide effective problem solving options. Perseverance and Motivation It is true that working place can create several daily challenges. It is important for the employees how they can cope up with those challenges. Motivation is another key thing that the employers try to find within the applicants in order to judge their flexibility. According to the current leading employers, the employees need to be self-motivated. In addition to this, they should have the ability to find out some positive things beyond the daily challenges. This self-motivation power and ability can help an employee to grow in his or her professional career. Organizations Organizing job responsibility and assigned task within the given period of time makes an employee quite effective. Today, the global organizations are facing intense competition from their competitors (Hess, 2013). Therefore, it is highly required for the organizations to accomplish each and every developed and planned task quite expertly within the assigned team. Otherwise, other market competitor can capitalize on that business opportunity. It is the employee of the organization, whose organizing power can help the organization to accomplish certain tasks. The employers try to find the skills of organizing job responsibility and activities during the recruitment process of fresh university graduates. It is all about focusing on job functions and responsibilities and meeting the deadlines. Confidence An employee without confidence cannot sustain for a long in the corporate sector. The employers try to select the fresh university graduate candidates who are high in confidence. Lack of confidence can affect the employee and employer in several ways (Wallace, 12). From the employee perspective, low confidence level can hamper the talent and skill level of an employee. First of all, low confidence level will stop the employees to undertake effective strategies and decision in emergency or critical situation. It can affect the entire operation. Moreover, lack of confidence can affect then communication process among the employees. Employee with low confidence level will not love to share each and every job related issues with the sub-ordinates. Therefore, it would be effective if the candidates or fresh university graduates try to increase their confidence level. Ability to work under pressure Flexibility is the important characteristic of an employee. The employers or the recruitment professional generally try to consider the ability to perform under immense work pressure and stress during the recruitment process of fresh university graduates (Hall, 2010). Anger management and showing positive attitude can help an employee to perform effectively. In addition to this, it helps an employee to achieve significant growth in his or her professional career. Whenever, a new applicant tries for new employment opportunity, he or she should have the stress handling ability as the modern day employers or recruiters try to observe that skill in the applicants (White, 2009). It will be quite effective if the universities organize some seminars or orientation process regarding stress handling in workplace. Effective stress handling and keeping calm in the crisis situation help the employees to achieve significant social recognition. It can ultimately boost the motivation level of the employees. Conclusion Human resource management is quite difficult task for the employers. Employing right people for right job at a right time is quite important for the organizations. Several leading organizations always try to recruit and retain skilled and effective employees as the effective employees are considered as the strong asset of an organization. Several fresh university graduates sometime do not try to understand the requirement of basic recruitment knowledge and skill. It affects them in their professional career.
