Part One: Graph Growth of Urban Agglomeration Introduction The term urban growth is commonly used in reference to the often gradual decline and growth of economic agglomerations. The general pattern of distribution of a country’s or region’s economic activity is often found to be a key determinant of the process of urbanization in the given region and the organization of the area’s economic activity, all these factors are seen to critically affect a country’s national economic growth. Description and Comparison of the Trends According to the graph provided that shows the population of some key cities across the world in the years, 1950, 1970, 2000 an the probably projections for the year 2015, the city of London in England had experienced almost a stagnant growth in its urban agglomeration in the years 1950 and 1970, however, data derived from the year 2000 showed that there had actually been a reduction in the city’s agglomeration as compared to the previous years.

This trend is expected to remain relatively constant through to the year 2015. The cities of Cairo in Egypt and Sao Paolo in Brazil have continually registered an almost constant and continual growth in their agglomeration over the years and this consistent continual growth is expected to be reflected in the projections made for the year 2015. The agglomeration of the cities of Lagos in Nigeria and that of Bombay in India are found to be relatively similar as they continue to experience increasing agglomeration over the years.

After the growth experienced by New York City in the United States in the year 1950 through to the year 1970, the city has managed to attain an almost imperceptible growth in the year 1970 through to 2000 and similar results are expected in the year 2015. Although Tokyo city in Japan has continued to experience large agglomeration growths that are found to be similar to those experienced by the city of Sao Paolo in Brazil, it is expected that this growth will eventually stagnate in the year 2000 through to the year 2015.

Conclusion Generally, most of the cities in the survey with the exception of London and New York have continued to post very positive results over the years with some like Lagos and Bombay showing ever increasing urban agglomeration rates. However, it is projected that the agglomeration rates of some cities such as Tokyo, Mexico City and London will eventually greatly reduce or even stagnate in the year 2015. Part Two: Letter of Response to a Complaint The manager, Marriott Courtyard 40th St.

New York, USA To Mr. Paul S. Bawden 4th Nov 2011 248 Market Street Cambridge, CBA 1DA United Kingdom Dear Sir, I have successfully confirmed from the hotel’s records of your recent booking and accommodation at the hotel as well as the requests you made pertaining to the change in rooms. In regards to the coziness of the hotel to which you perceived that the rooms are rather too small to be referred to as being cozy and intimate and your recommendation advocating for the reduction of the number of rooms per floor from seven rooms to about four rooms; it was established that your dissatisfaction with the sizes of the rooms can probably be attributed to the fact due to the relatively higher rates charged for real estate within New York as compared to other places globally, the rooms of hotels in New York tend to be slightly smaller.

As it is, the sizes of the rooms are quite spacious as compared to similar hotels within New York that happen to have a similar rating to ours. However, you will be pleased to note that your suggestion was put forth to the hotel’s board of directors and that after some serious deliberation. The directors decided to expand the rooms on some of the hotel’s floors to an average of about five rooms per floor. Some while back, the hotel implemented a policy that would cause it to embark on a serious renovation project that would see it renovate the entire hotel building to ensure that it continues to live up to its “Marriott” name.

At the time of your booking, although the renovation project had already commenced, the room that you had been booked into had yet to be renovated. The Marriott Courtyard hotel management has duly noted your complaint on the unprofessional treatment that you received from some of the staff members in your attempts to lodge a complaint at our front desk. In line with the hotel’s policy, the management constantly endeavors to stress on the importance of proper treatment of customers at the hotel and you can rest assured that this complaint is being treated with utmost urgency and the seriousness it deserves.

Sir, the Marriott Courtyard would like to extend to you an apology and offer you an opportunity to visit and enjoy our services and excellently renovated facilities free of charge for a period of three day. Kindly please contact our offices to make your booking. I look forward to your positive response. Yours faithfully, The Manager, Marriott Courtyard Hotel
