Private Garden
Gardening is a very relaxing and healthy way that helps someone to keep in touch with nature. Nature clears one’s mind as well as increasing an individual’s vitamin D supply thus boosting ones mood. The greenness of the garden provides the healing color which acts as a stress reducer. Production of oxygen and the absorption of carbon dioxide by plants improve the quality of the air around us thus filling individual’s lungs with fresh air that reenergizes body and mind. This greatly boosts ones self-esteem and wellbeing hence promoting sense of positivity and reward that nature can bring. This article describes garden as a favorite place to go when an individual wants to relax after a hard day.
Garden is a peaceful and beautiful natural place covered by green plants and grass that anyone who adores nature would not love to see it being destroyed. The earth’s smell is always very natural with some sweet smelling flowers. It provides a wonderfully cool place that enhances good feeling when someone is from a tough day work. Private gardens are always near homes thus boosting and setting mind for relaxation purposes because an individual is not required either to walk or drive long distance to his home after relaxation. Presence of joyfully singing birds, chirping locusts makes garden so peaceful and natural thus boosting relaxation after a very stressful long day work.
It is also worth noting that an individual may experiment with the sense of touching by playing with diverse tangible sensations such as leaves, fruits and stems thus enabling one to focus on things that are relaxing and renewing. From the gardens, an individual may further surround himself with energizing and invigorating smells by looking for comforting and calming scents such as smelling Rosses. Relaxing in the garden while the kids are playing around you is a very joyful and fulfilling act that takes someone’s mind away from the tiring job throughout the day. At times it is very relaxing to dirty our hands by either pruning or just digging worms and picking strawberries for the kids since it makes an individual feel very elemental to the nature and the overall surrounding. Careful working on the garden makes gardeners feel like they are doing what they love most and a way of recovering some of the insubstantial things lost during busy days (Gaston 152-154).
After finishing a stressful task, gardening may better an individual’s mood by lowering the stress hormone cortisol because the garden reverses the attention required by one’s mind due to the effortless attention used to enjoy nature. Nature is a great way of fighting stress and attention fatigue due to the evening breeze blows, flowering, sounds and smells which draw effortless attention. This kind of attention immensely aid in boosting depression symptoms and persistent low mood due to enhancement of the part of the brain that control cognitive function and mood. Gardening involves lots of different movements such as digging, planting, and weeding that gardeners are likely to stick with mostly and is very necessary in exercising oneself. Old and disabled individuals who cannot go to gym or get involved in very tiring exercises can use gardening activities as substitute (Gaston 152-154).
Gardening largely promotes nutrition since gardeners normally grow fresh fruits and vegetables that really boost mental abilities. Homegrown fruits and vegetables taste better and are more delicious to eat. Gardens are also essential for allergy sufferers due to the freshness and absence of pollution such as pollen grains and vehicle pollution as well as provision of cool shades for relaxation after long day task. Gardening provides interesting gardening experiences due to diversion from routine by creating a chance of personal creativity and expression of one’s personality. It further provides a way of socializing with the people in the neighborhood. Gardeners who relax in their gardens find relief from busy city environment which is full of all forms of pollution and risky incidents such as robbery. Gardens are regarded as very safe environment for relaxation particularly with children as it provides better education environment of learning about nature (Gaston 152-154).
Benefits of gardens go beyond their normal practical uses and have considerable emotional, psychological, healing and spiritual values despite the fact that degree of involvement and satisfaction varies from one person to the other. It is worth noting that gardening significantly affect lives of many working families through considerable influence on perceptions of one’s wellbeing. It is apparent that even the smallest garden can have very positive influence on individuals irrespective of their sex and age particularly in the provision of a pleasant environment for relaxation. Gardens are therefore very nice places that anyone can relax after a hard stressing task. Indeed, gardening is a very relaxing and healthy way that helps someone to keep in touch with nature when an individual wants to relax after a hard day.
