? Masculinity in Commercials Introduction Behavior variation in gender issues has been in place since the prehistoric times. Such behaviors are shaped by a lot of factors. The factors have shaped the traits men have while conducting business, movies and at times in sports. This paper discusses how sports, wealth and movies make some male traits be admired. Sociologists propose that most of the differences in gender in terms of physical aggression may be rooted in the evolutionary processes. However; these may not be the case. Most movies illustrate that men with a lot of wealth are greatly admired many people in the society (Valentine, 2011). This also associates they power within the society. This makes them become role models within the society. Therefore; most persons would want to get to their levels. Men in successful business are also admired because of several reasons. One of the traits that makes them be greatly admired is the wealth of experience they posses. The experience enables to solve the daily problems they encounter at their work place (Anderson, 2007). The ability to solve problems is a character that is greatly admired by many. The major focus that makes them be admired is because of the wealth they posses. Wealth is admired by all people in the world. Movies and sports constantly display physical attractiveness men display. Physical attractiveness can be defined as the extent at which the physical traits of a person are pleasing aesthetically (Jones, 2010). Physical attractiveness also mean sexual attractiveness the men have. Physical attractiveness demonstrated by men depends on several factors. Some of these factors include the physical aspect of men. Physical attractions encompass perceptions that are universal besides those based on human cultures. In some instances, the term physical attractiveness also depends on the subjective preferences of the person judging a particular scenario. In movies, people have greatly admired males that are not only intelligent but also honest. According to research done in the United Kingdom, the results revealed that there is a stronger relationship between physical attractiveness and male gender attributes. The results showed that men who were physically attractive were equally intelligent. This is one of the reasons as to why people admire males that are physically attractive. They assume that they are also intelligent. Currently; psychologists are also contributing to the debate. They suggest that males that are physically attractive should be intelligent averagely (Little, 2006). According to psychologist, general intelligence, physical attractiveness is one of the contributing factors to genetic fitness in most men. The fitness most men display in sports like Rugby and football is attributed to physical attractiveness. This also makes men be attractive. Women admire men that are taller and are muscular. This guarantees them security from any form of harm. Further, the female genders prefer men that posses’ facial symmetry. Men should have facial dimorphism and a waist that is narrow. Finally, the shape of the torso should be a V-shaped. Sexual dimorphism trait in men is greatly admired in several ways. For example, heterosexual women prefer masculine face traits throughout their developmental stages. The aspects of masculine faces that are greatly admired include a fore head that is broad. A lower face that is relatively longer is equally admired in men. A brow and chin that is prominent is equally admired. Published literature reveals that males that are masculine have higher chances of achieving higher status in the society. Such Socio cultural factors associated with masculine traits also make men be admired (Christian, 2012). Other masculine traits are the perceived attractiveness in the society and conformity to genders. These factors play a great role in the preferences women have towards men. Beautiful women select masculine men with facial dimorphism. Their association with such men increases their self esteem. In pornography and movies, physical fitness tells much more. Women admire men that are physically attractive. Physical attractiveness indicates that a male character is very healthy and fertile (Jones, 2010).Fertility and sound health makes one to have a higher chance to reproduce. In addition, it makes men adapt to diverse environmental conditions. In movies, men that are well groomed hence physically attractive are admired greatly by all people in the society. Symmetrical faces are greatly admired in men. This is because it correlates to mental performance in the long run. Further, it shows that such men have been keen to evade disturbances that are within the environment. If a man has a facial symmetry, fantasies are likely be directed towards him unlike in a situation of facial asymmetry. In pornography and movies, facial symmetry is attributed to greater sexual activity. Men with such traits are likely to make their women to experience orgasm at some stage in sexual activity faster. Consequently; facial symmetry is a trait that is greatly admired by people of the female gender. Every female gender would like be associated with the men who have facial symmetry (Little, 2006). This aspect has been used efficiently during dramas and movies. Male persons with facial symmetry as a trait are used during incidents where sexual demonstrations are used. They are the major factors that are used to convey such messages during movies. Such messages are very useful to girls as they make them be aware of some of the traits that they should consider when choosing a man. Studies reveal that women with men who posses facial symmetry experience higher incidences of orgasm that those with men having facial asymmetry. However, this depends on the extraneous variables. The confounding variables were controlled in such studies. Besides; these findings may be different from one culture to the other. In media houses that conduct business, facial symmetry is used to advertise that such men have good health besides intelligence. This is a strategy to encourage other members of the society to respect the men with facial asymmetry. Moreover, results show that women that attractive physically tend be associated with men whose facial symmetry degree is higher. However, women who are less attractive tend to associate less with men that are physically attractive. Finally, symmetry trait is also responsible for pornographic acts. Men who are physically attractive influence the women into sexual intercourse. This can begin at an early age in the case where the men are attractive. However, this is not the case for men that are not physically attractive. Good body scent among men is also a desirable trait. People like to associate with men that are clean and free off sweat. The natural scent of individuals is also a trait that determines whether or not a male trait is desired. People like to associate with men that have a natural scent; those that use less chemicals (Jones, 2010). However, this is dependent on subjective experiences of a person. Studies have shown enough evidence that males that use a lot of chemicals are associated with a lot of sophistication. Subsequently, they are admired. However, there are also contradicting results as far this subject matter is concerned. The men who use a lot of chemicals have also been regarded as very weak. They imitate some feminism characters which are not accepted win the contexts of certain societies. In some sports and movies, the trait of beardlessness and a smooth body is a trait that greatly admired in men by the Romans. According to the Romans and Greeks, the most desired traits in men during their youths are the state of hairlessness. According to them, pubescent boys are appropriate objects socially. Men beyond their puberty stage are regarded to have past their prime ages. This was based on the focus of male traits during the stage of adolescent. The ability of a person to remain young in males is an attribute that is greatly admired by many. Men who are smart and look young are greatly admired by all segments of the society. It is related with some form of responsibility. However, the issue of hair on the body of men is a controversial one in the 21st century. Men with hair around their bodies are greatly admired by many individuals in the society. This ranges from men to women. There are several factors that can help in understanding this drastic change in perception regarding hair presence in the body. The most central one is that education. Education has helped people to understand the role of hair in thermoregulation. Scientists propose that hair traps air between the bodies. This helps in preventing heat loss in males. In addition, hair denotes that masculine character which is desired by female characters. Men do not want be associated with female traits. Men without hair have consistently been criticized to posses female traits. This demotivates them a lot. Age is a trait that cannot be left unmentioned in issues related to men. Older men are admired by many people in the society. In particular, women prefer men that are older. Such men are admired because their sense of responsibility is greater than younger men. In businesses, older people are preferred as managers because they have gathered a lot of experience in issues related to management (Jones, 2010). The peak age when men become admirable to women begins at the age of about 29. Thus; most women always want to associate with men who are older than them. In sports, there are many attributes that are desired in men. These are aspects considered during their selection in sports. Sound health is the most important factor that is always considered before others come. Second to health are the physical factors. There are a lot of physical factors that relate men with different types of sports. Streamline body is an attribute that is greatly admired among athletes. It makes such men very swift which minimizes air resistance during a race. There are some sports that need a lot of energy and endurance. This includes games such as rugby and football. Muscular arms that are large are greatly admired in football and rugby. In rugby, the biceps should be large so that they are able to tackle their opponents. This is because the rugby depends on the ability to counteract the opponents. From observations, most of the people who participate in rugby games are well built masculine men. This trait is also admired by spectators. The spectators always admire them, and some use them as role models (Little, 2006). During the game, the ability and skills that such persons display impress many. Good example includes episodes when a masculine person brings victory to team during a hotly contested match. This usually makes people to attribute such performance to the body physique. Another trait that determines how men are perceived in sports include broad chest. Men with broad chests are admired more than those narrow ones. Small bodied women prefer men with broad chests to those without. The broad chest should taper towards the waist. Studies have also been conducted across the globe in matters of genitalia. Studies have shown similar results across England, Italy, Spain and France. Concerning the issue of genitalia, men with long and thick sexual organ are greatly admired by their females. The men with smaller sexual organ are disregarded. This is because the women regard them as non performers hence unable to make them realize satisfaction. Finally, skin color of a man is also a factor that can make a man be admired. The skin color of a man is determined by the level of a hormone called testosterone. The skin color of aesthetic varies among different cultures. Darker color is less admired (Anderson, 2007). They are associated with laborers who are struggling in life to make ends meet.Consequently; dark color is associated with lower socioeconomic class in the society. Lighter color among men is thus greatly admired. This is because light color symbolizes wealth in men. In addition, men with redder skins indicate that their blood is well oxygenated and is admired by many. In conclusion, the physical attributes of a man are what makes them be admired. This includes the appearance to wealth of a man. Men should consider the cultures of the various societies before in attempting of improving their public image.
