Recommendation Report Insert Insert Grade Insert Insert Introduction The purpose of this report is to recommend a carfor purchase to the sales department that is reliable, comfortable, affordable and durable. The report will analyze the best available options in the market that will provide the department with an effective and fuel & maintenance economical car for the purposes of enhancing sales in our organization. This will be done in recognition of the general goals and objectives of the organization as well as customer requirements. The 2013 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan has been recommended for the sales department. With competition becoming intense in the industry the organization operates in, there has been need for the sales department to be flexible in reaching the clients across each distribution region (Miller, 2009). As the need for accessibility and a wider geographical coverage has been inevitable, it is necessary that there are means of enabling the department attain this requirement. Sales cars are the best ways of ensuring that the organization’s dedicated salesmen or women are able to promptly and appropriately respond to individual customer needs. Since public means is a relatively cheaper but expensive for competition of the organization, there is a practice in the industry that has seen major organizations acquire their own fleet for the purposes of overcoming the challenges of public transport. Apart from affording the salesmen and women the luxury of being flexible and comfortable while performing their duty to the organization, cars owned by the organization are also the best means of ensuring that coordination and monitoring is enhanced in the department. For instance, a good fleet should provide means of tracking locations of different customers across the identified geographical segments. In this way, mapping out the target market will be possible and hence easy scheduling and management of issues like delivery and rapid response. On the other hand, the sales department and the organization is able to benefit from the fleet management capabilities provided and therefore hold each sales team accountable. A price cap of $20,000 for each unit has been established for this program. To enable the organization make the most appropriate purchase as per the requirements of the sales staff, several cars will be compared under specified criteria. The remainder of this document contains the following sections: . The Criteria Used to evaluate the sales cars . Car Evaluation . Final Recommendation The Criteria Used To Evaluate the Sales Cars The purpose of this section is to state the requisite specifications that each car should meet as required by majority of sales staff. By identifying the requirements for the ideal car, it will be easy to guide the proposed purchase program to the most suitable and viable option in the list of the available car choices in the market. The criteria are: Financial viability The number of doors Originality of the car Fuel economy Warranty period Additional benefits Financial viability The chosen car for the sales team must not exceed the sum of $20,000 in total costs of purchase. This implies that regardless of the other requirements that might be fulfilled by other cars, the cost of purchase according to the budget is not to be surpassed. The Number of Doors All the car units need to have four doors. Flexibility of the sales staff is very important in having access to their chosen means of transport. It is also obvious that the number of doors has a direct bearing on the seat capacity and even the storage space in the car. Since the organization is looking to maximize on the available fleet due to limited resources, this criteria is therefore essential for the purposes of the mentioned objective apart from other reasons. Boot space is also important for sales staff for delivery purposes. Originality of the Car The vehicles to be purchased must be American-made due to the clientele requirements. The country of manufacture is important since the targeted market is sensitive on issues dealing with the promotion of the country’s automotive sector that has continued to employ many citizens. To be able to prove the organization’s commitment to national economy, its consumption must show that it supports the economy. Fuel Economy The chosen car should be able to preferably get at least 20 miles to the gallon to maximize time on the road instead of the gas station. Warranty Period Warranty refers to an arrangement where the seller is able to provide a grief period where damages cars can be returned to the manufacture for repair or replacement. The chosen car should have an extended warranty due to extensive time on the road. Additional Benefits The car should have addition benefits related to comfort, navigation capabilities and aesthetic values that may help to create an identity despite making the sales teams’ work enjoyable. Car Evaluation The following cars are available for evaluation having been identified as some of the best suited for sales personnel. The criteria stated in the criteria section has been used to evaluate the prospective cars and rank them from the most to least suitable. The 2013 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan The 2012 Jeep Patrol The 2013 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan This is the best car choice for the sales staffs that have a view of enhancing the organization’s competiveness and productivity. Cost The cost of the latest model of Chevrolet sonic sedan goes for about $14, 185 (Chevrolet, 2013). This is quite a bargain for the organization given the limited resources. More units can even be purchased given the savings likely to be made. Doors The car has a four door system that is keyless and with power outlets (Market Watch, 2013). This will be of great benefit since the sales team was in agreement that they needed these specifications. Originality The car is manufactured in the country by Chevrolet that is associated with General Motors. Given the nature of appeal the company has in the country, purchasing it will be good for the organization’s image. Fuel Consumption The car has an improved consumption rate of about 40 miles per gallon (Chevrolet, 2013). This is quite astonishing given that it doubles the expectations enlisted in the evaluation criteria. Warranty The vehicle has a five year warranty. This is good for the company’s expectations to limit the costs of repairs and maintenance given the nature of work it is meant for. Additional benefits The vehicle has additional safety, entertainment, security and navigator benefits for motivation of the employees involved in sales. The 2012 Jeep Patrol Cost The cost of the latest model of Chevrolet sonic sedan goes for about $17, 745 (Market Watch, 2013). This is relatively expensive in comparison with the preferred car. Doors The car has a four door system that is keyless and with power outlets (Market Watch, 2013). Likewise, this can be of great benefit for the sales team. Originality The car is manufactured in the country by Chrysler Group (Market Watch, 2013). Given the originality, it also fulfils the stated criteria and hence it’s second rating. Fuel Consumption The car has an improved consumption rate of about 38 miles per gallon. This is also good given that it almost doubles the expectations enlisted in the evaluation criteria but it still trails in this evaluation. Warranty The vehicle has a 3 year warranty. This may not be good for the company’s expectations as have been stated in the criteria section. Additional benefits The vehicle has a four wheeled capability and additional 30 security features (Market Watch, 2013). Even though this gives it an added advantage, it is still not as good as the choice car. Final Recommendation Given the evaluation of the two best selected options, the 2013 Chevrolet sonic sedan beats it main rival according to the set criteria. It has all the benefits the sales department would want in their fleet. This includes comfort, low fuel consumption, versatility and the flexibility needed to access customers regardless of geographical distance.
