Most college students, therefore, have their outstanding aspiration of settling for their future careers after graduation as their core objective. It becomes indisputable that the number of citizens served by college graduates, in their areas of specialization, is high. The nature of the professions handled by graduates is that of a highly critical endeavor, sometimes involving health and international relations issues. The fact that many colleges prioritize future occupation of learners rather than enhancing students with extensive comprehension of other skills becomes worrying. The effect of this mode of education can spread to bring extensive implications, some negative and irreversible. Teaching in colleges should not only include training on future occupation but also other complementary life skills. Unless such complementary skills appear among college courses, the value of education gets to a compromising situation. There is no doubt the importance of college education in ensuring solution to life problems and challenges as climate change and economic crisis, among others, is great. In fact, there is a high demand for innovation that make the quality of life better than it is, or even cheap to afford. All these are possible with intensive training, of college students, in their future occupation. ...
Besides the knowledge of research, college students should learn other skills as oratory speech delivery, among other courses. A case in point would be a college student pursuing international relations or political science courses. If, for instance, the student lacks the knowledge of oratory speech delivery, it becomes a challenge. Others may argue that such skills, mentioned, form part of the lesson plans of their related courses. It is true they do. However, it is questionable how many graduates can apply the skills, exceptionally and in an outstanding way. If there could be courses that, exclusively, deal with such complementary life skills, it would spice the value of other courses that involve future occupation. The position on the need for colleges to provide, not only courses related to future occupation but also complementary life skills may seem reactionary. It, however, remains incontrovertible. Administrators should revise their courses to suit the dire demand for such trainings. The assumption that college students can appreciate, effectively, the role of complementary life skills is erroneous. There are growing challenges, among college students that need the adoption of complementary life skills to solve. Despite the availability of countless papers, journals and articles addressing complementary life skills in college libraries, few among those students spare an appreciated time to go through them. Claims over the intense and busy programs, that college students have, may be a reason for their limited readership on other subjects, outside their main courses on future occupation. This becomes a problem because most of those who commit plagiarism are international students which James Bradshaw and Tamara Baluja have anecdotally set the figure at over 50% that makes up about 12 percent of the total student body at U of T (2011).
Because of my interest at products from abroad, I am strongly interested at international trade and business. In my pursuit to this interest, I have already taken relevant courses to be more geared towards my target specialization at this university. Those business-oriented courses include Business law, Accounting 1 and 2, Economics 1 and 2, Calculus for Business, and Introduction to Business, which have provided strong background in both theory and practice in the field of business.
It is recognized by occupational therapists that the awareness of the conscious intentions and goals of an individual as they carry out their occupation will provide understanding of the purposive influences of the occupation for the person (Christiansen & Townsend, 2003; Fisher, 1998).
As a person, writing has always been an interest for me, and I have tried it in the past and understood the challenges of being a writer. In the past, I tried various types of writing with little success, and it is then that I learnt that
