He attended Stratford grammar school but failed to pursue his education in either Cambridge or Oxford University. William Shakespeare married Ann Hatheway on 158 at Temple Grafton. They have three children named Sussana, Hamnet and Judith (Bloom & Marson, 2008, p. 2). William Shakespeare composed mythological-erotic poetry and ventured into theater in his early years. The year 1598 marked the conception of his greatest works which include “The Comedy of Errors,” “The Merchant of Venice,” and “Romeo and Juliet.

” William Shakespeare died on 1616; however, his brilliant works continued to influence and inspire modern poets and playwrights (Bloom & Marson, 2008, p. 2). 2.0 Overview of Some of His Works “Romeo and Juliet” is a play that tackles on the two feuding families and the tribulation that occurred when the children of these two families fell in love (Shakespeare & Yates-Glandorf, 2004, p. 19). A feud between the Catapulets and Montagues has lasted for years in Verona. This feud generated inner conflict for Romeo and Juliet which contradicts the tenderness and love they felt for one another (Shakespeare, 2006).

It prevented Romeo and Juliet from being with one another and eventually caused their deaths. However, their deaths united these two feuding families (Shakespeare, 2006). . Pearson (as cited in Han, 2001) reiterated that “Hamlet” presents Shakespeare’s sense of mortality. The play concentrates on the subjection of his artistic creation to the hands of the divine providence. William Shakespeare wrote “Shakespeare’s Sonnets” which is composed of 154 sequentially arranged poems. Callaghan (2008) stressed that “Shakespeare’s Sonnets” reflects Shakespeare’s desire to be identified with the voice in the sonnet.

Most poets during this period utilized aliases; however, Shakespeare used his name in the title of the sonnet (Callaghan, 2008, p. 2). Shakespeare’s sonnets can be broken down into interconnected sequences. The first 126 sonnets present Mr. W. H., a young man, whom the speaker encourages to get married to preserve his beauty and ensure his future (Zanger, 2010, p. 3). Meanwhile, the remaining 28 sonnets communicate to a woman referred as “Dark Lady” who provokes revulsion and lust to the speaker (Bloom, 1999).

William Shakespeare wrote “Love’s Labor’s lost,” “The Merchant of Venice,” “Two Gentlemen of Verona,” and “Romeo and Juliet” on 1598. In the turn of the century he wrote romantic comedies such as “Much Ado About Nothing” and “As You Like It, Twelfth Night.” Ten years later he wrote great tragedies including “Macbeth,” “Othello,” “Anthony and Cleopatra,” and “King Lear” (Bloom, 1999). 3.0 Contribution and Influence William Shakespeare published critically acclaimed and prominent sonnet cycle on 1606 (Bloom, 1999, p. 3). Modern scholars admitted that Shakespeare’s works significantly contributed to their compositions (Gilbert, 1849).
