XYZ Oct.20 Section XX WHY IS SWIMMING THE BEST FORM OF EXERCISE? Exercise is an activity that requires physical or mental exertion. It plays a vital role in the strengthening of body and mind and is used not only to lose weight but also to stay fit. It increases the body’s metabolism which ultimately results in the burning of fats. Exercise has always been very important part of the human body. It not only keeps one in better shape but also reduces the risks of heart diseases, strokes, various cancers and high blood pressure.
In the modern era the need to exercise has increased significantly. People today feel the need to stay and look fit more than ever before. Over the past few years various exercising machines and fitness units have been introduced some of which comprises of state-of-the-art technology e.g. calculating pulse rate, calories burnt and speed range etc. But swimming has always been a conventional way to stay fit and healthy, with the main reasons being that it is a simple and non technology oriented form of exercise delivering some very effective results.
Swimming is an aquatic sport. It is the art of self- movement in water with the help of upper and lower limbs. Swimming is the best form of exercise as it is easy on the body, it works all muscles, can be used by people who are limited in the exercise they can undertake, is varied Unlike many exercises which prove to be very monotonous and harsh, swimming refreshes both the mind and body. It eases the body without giving jarring effects. Water has some very effective and soothing effects. Athletes use water to rehabilitate after an injury.
The water acts as cushions and relieves stiffness from the body; eases anxiety, stress, improves sleep and relieves insomnia. No other exercise can prove to be so successful for the human body. For all other exercises exercise the body is sweaty and warm, it needs to be cooled down slowly. If at that point the body is exposed to even the slightest change in room temperature, the muscles become stiff. Whereas, in swimming it is not the case, it’s like coming out from a long bath. Swimming works all muscles of the body (abdominal, legs, hips and glutes etc) are put into action.
When one enters a swimming pool he is about give himself a full body workout rather than going from one machine to another, as consequence sav time. It helps to build heart muscle which in return allows the body to pump blood at a much faster rate. This increases blood circulation which is good for a person's health. While exercise is good for the human body, there are many people who are limited in what forms of exercise they are able to participate in. For example, people who are very overweight are unable to participate in many forms of exercise as it is dangerous for their body, and many forms of exercise can be painful for people who suffer from arthritis.
However, because of the way that water cushions the body people who are restricted from other forms of exercise are freely able to swim. Swimming is for people of all ages .The chances of injury in swimming are very rare. In exercise, however, the misuse of equipment can increase the risks. From overweight children to obese adults, swimming proves to be the best and interesting work out. One problem with any form of exercise is that it quickly becomes monotonous and boring. The technique of swimming comes with a lot variety and different ways which include freestyle, breast stroke, butterfly and back stroke each of which is very challenging so people are likely to get less bored.
These styles are merely not just styles but are different levels. Freestyle being the very basic, breast stroke requires more power which in turn burns more calories and thus accordingly. The benefits of swimming as a form of exercise in its own right and when compared to other forms of exercise are clear. Like other forms of exercise, swimming releases endorphins, increasing the mood of people participating. The nature of swimming is distinct compared to any other form of exercise due to the significant role that water plays.
It is an enjoyable exercise for all ages, weight groups and whether people are healthy or suffer from problems such as arthritis. For many people swimming is not only an exercise but a sport, where they seek to improve their speed and technique. Swimming is clearly the best choice in terms of exercise if one wishes to increase the health or become more active.
