I know this because I have felt like this many times in my life. I don’t like when people make fun of me. But unfortunately, wherever three friends get together, two of them get together to make fun of the third. Real-life interactions are full of this stuff. But this is not so on Facebook, which is why I like socializing on Facebook more than in real life. On Facebook, people poke one another.

In everyday life, I would not go to a class fellow who I don’t talk to regularly. But it is easier to approach people on Facebook. You poke someone who is not your friend. He pokes you in return, and the two can get along with each other. This is one example of how Facebook promotes social networking among people. There are many other examples like this. One thing that plays the most important role in broadening the friend network is the fact that everybody on your profile is named as your friend.

Be that a friend or a foe, if you have added him to your list, then he is your friend. In the start, people hold regular daily life perceptions about one another, but with time, the name “friend” gets carved in their memories and they know one another as friends. Today, I have many people on my friend list that are not my friends. But since they are on my friend list, I get to chat with them when they log on. Many people who commented on my statuses and photos indirectly told me that they viewed my profile and were interested enough to leave their comments.

I like this. I always answer their comments back. I mean if this is how we can start talking with one another, nothing like it! I know my friends better after using Facebook than I did before. Now I know their families, the events they go to, and their likes and dislikes. I get to know what is happening in their life by reading their daily statuses. I get to know all of this without letting them know about it, which I think is good because I would not like to show this. Overall, Facebook has increased my number of friends, improved my quality of friendships, and has let me know my friends better.

So I must say that Facebook connects people and helps them relate to one another. Youtube, on the other hand, is not a social networking website. It is a website with videos. People see videos and leave their comments and tell whether they liked or disliked them. So I would not say that Youtube helps people connect and promote their relationships. However, Youtube does make it easy for people to upload their videos which friends and relatives can see and appreciate. Apart from the videos of relatives and friends, Youtube does not connect people.

However, Youtube is a very good source of knowledge. There are videos on every subject including math, science, arts, entertainment, and games. I love to see videos on Youtube whenever I have free time, I have learned a lot of recipes from Youtube. Although Youtube is not a very strong means of social networking, you sometimes get to connect to strange people by commenting on different videos. It so happens that one person sees the video and comments. Then another person sees the video and comments.

Sometimes, people start fighting with one another when their comments are contradicting. I like reading fights in the comments. But overall, Youtube is not meant for promoting relations. It is a source of knowledge, entertainment, and virtual education. The Internet is a necessary part of our lives. Websites like Facebook have promoted social relations and helped people connect. I feel comfortable interacting with people on Facebook because there is no annoying.
