Nick’s review is as follows; “Mighty martial-arts panda Po (Jack Black) may still be portly, yet in every other respect, his Kung Fu Panda 2 is a fleeter, funnier beast than its 2008 predecessor” (Nick). Both the writers try to grab the attention of the readers through different methods. Ebert tries to grab the attention of the readers in few simple words whereas Nick tries to do the same thing with the help of some interesting personifications or comparisons.
Elbert has explained why he liked the film in the opening paragraph itself. The readers may not get confused as they go through the entire review because of the simplicity of this review. Ebert explains that he got more than what he expected from this film which is really an encouraging sentence for the readers to read the full review. Moreover, he has stressed the excess attractively of 3D over 2D in the opening paragraph itself and persuades the readers to see this film. On the other hand, Nick tries to grab the attention of the readers by describing it as a better film than its predecessor.
Nick used some funny comparisons and colorful words to motivate the readers to read the entire review and to persuade the readers to see this film. . cated words and complex comparisons in this review which may be digestible only to the people who have in depth knowledge about the technicalities of a film. On the other hand, Ebert tries to use simple words in his review and even ordinary people can easily understand what he is trying to tell in this review. In other words, Ebert’s review was intended for ordinary film lovers whereas Nick’s review was intended for more serious film lovers Both Ebert and Nick backed up their points very well even though they used different mechanism to substantiate their arguments.
Both of them used events from mythical Chinese kingdom frequently to make their points clear in this review. At the same time, Ebert put forward his points in a more comprehensive manner whereas Nick tried to explain his arguments in a concise manner. Even though Ebert used many personal references in his review, Nick seems to be uninterested in doing so. Ebert in fact referred almost the entire actors and their castings in his review whereas Nick said nothing about the performances of the actors in this film.
Ebert gave special reference to the performances of Dustin Hofman in his review. The major focal point of this review is the 3D effect of this film. Nick explained that even though unlike many other former 3D films, this film does not terrify the viewers, it succeeded in making the viewers aware of the infinite possibilities of 3D films. Ebert also agreed with the opinions of Nick about the 3D quality of this film. In his opinion, “the animation is much superior to average 3-D feature about cute little animals” (Ebert) Ebert concluded his review with a prediction about the future relationship between Po and Tigress.
