Your full June 18, Summary- The Detective Story “The Cannibal” Some last months had beenreceiving a few reports of girls being kidnapped and never being discovered. The incidents were increasing and detective Robert was not comfortable with what was happening. The criminal was not leaving any clue. Families of girls were protesting as they were getting disappointed about the discovery of their daughters. Teams were being made in the Criminal Investigation Department and spread all over San Francisco in search for any clues. Eight months have passed and every month, the reports increased. And they were all girls. It might have been the rape scene going on and then the killing of the girls followed by the disappearing of their bodies either buried or thrown in the waters, detective Robert presented his ideas to the CID one day. And then, one day it was his best friend’s daughter who was missing. Robert was enraged. He could not bear this since he was very fond of the little girl, Eliza, and had a fatherly love for her. He promised his friend, Alfred, who was much older than him that he would bring Eliza back at all costs. He called Alfred the next day of the incident into his office. A long, thin man with curly hear and unshaven face, Agostino, accompanied Alfred. Robert was not comfortable with Agostino. He had never seen him with Alfred nor did Alfred ever talk about him. Robert knew Alfred since ages and this was not acceptable to him that Agostino was showing himself to be a very close companion of Robert’s. After a brief interview with Agostino, Robert came to know that he belonged to Italy and had migrated to San Francisco where he met Alfred and started some wood business with him. After the two men left, Robert called on his colleague, detective Michael, to get more information about Agostino. Michael came with a not-so-pleasing report since Agostino’s reputation in San Francisco was suspicious. However, they pondered over the situation but did not find any clue. Robert decided to test him and called on his female secretary, detective Martha, to create links with Agostino to know if he was the kidnapper. That evening, Agostino was driving down the pathway when Martha stopped him and asked for a lift. Agostino affirmed and dropped Martha down the path. Martha got her hand on a piece of paper that looked like a map and hid it in her purse when for a minute Agostino had got out of the car to check the wheel. Martha showed the map to Robert who found out that it was a map of some far-off place near the city’s graveyard. They went over that place and hid themselves. They were looking at a weirdly constructed hut from where they were hearing some voices. They went in and found Agostino with some girls tied up with tree trunks. Agostino was caught after he accepted that he ate female flesh and drank blood after which he would bury the bodies. The case was solved. Zooming into one part of the story- “The Crime Scene” Detective Roberto was looking at the map that Detective Martha had taken from Agostino’s car. The map showed some place named Ivy 11 that was far off from the city and where people usually did not go. The place was isolated and there was a graveyard near to it. Roberto was amazed what Agostino had to do with such a place but keeping in mind the crime incidents that were happening, such a deserted place could have been a perfect choice for the criminals. Roberto told Michael and Martha to compile a team and quietly go over to that place for a clue. Roberto was hopeful. His detective nerves were throbbing and his heart was pumping high. Was he excited? Was he nervous? Or was he afraid? He knew that he could not be afraid. He did not dread anything, not even death. He was surely excited and a little nervous too. The investigation team under the supervision of detective Robert headed toward Ivy 11. It was a windy evening in mid November and the night was definitely going to be cold. The air was already freezing their sensors. The journey seemed too long. They drove through the forests and grasslands, until after some miles, they looked at a huge sign board that said, “Ivy 11”. They entered the gate and came across a huge cemetery. There were graves all over, small and large, new and old. There was no human being as far as they could see. The place seemed scary. They drove through the grave yard and a kilometer away, they saw a hut, oddly constructed with thin tree trunks tied together with ropes. Martha realized that she could hear some voices. Roberto told them to be quiet and listened. Yes, there were some voices, and all seemed to be female! “That is bizarre”, Robert had exclaimed, “But that eerie hut might be hiding something we are looking for, so let’s go ahead but be careful.” The team divided into four groups, all loaded with guns, to surround the hut from all four sides. They neared the hut and the voices got loud and clear. Robert knew that the voices were pleading to someone but who that someone was, was still unknown. Robert told his team to hide behind some trees that were just some yards away from the entrance to the hut. The reader must also know what was going on inside the hut when Robert and his team were surrounding it. It was one of the most dreadful places one could ever come across. Four girls were tied to trunks that were inside the large hut. Eliza, the most recently kidnapped girl, was lying on a table. All the girls had wounds all over their faces and arms, and their clothes had been torn. Blood was all over the table, the floor, and the door. In one corner, there were some tools that a carpenter or a woodcutter would use like a saw, a dagger, some knives, and an axe. All the tools were coated with fresh blood. The tied up girls were crying silently. They did not scream as if they knew for sure that no one would come here to save them even if they yelled. Eliza got up from the table but since her legs were wounded, she could not get down and walk. She fell down and crawled toward the girls. She told them that she would cut off the rope and free them so that they could flee from there. But she was not sure herself how she would do that. The girls told her that it was impossible. When Eliza was trying to un-knot the rope tied around one girl, the man appeared. He laughed and then screamed. He had blood all over his clothes. Out of rage, he ran and picked up his knives. He then ran toward Eliza and held the knife close to her neck. She was scared and seemed as if she was about to faint. The man said, “What were you trying to do? No girl has ever fled from my custody alive. I eat their flesh and drink their blood for my meal. And this is what I am going to do with all of you.” He yelled at Eliza, “And since you are the one who has enraged me and resisted me, so you will be the first meal of mine out of you all.” He grabbed Eliza’s neck and threw her over the hay. Since he was screaming, his voice was too clear for Robert. Robert ordered his team to enter the hut before the man could hurt Eliza. They entered and yelled, “Hands up.” The man turned back and Robert recognized him at once. He was Agostino, Alfred’s friend. He had kidnapped his friend’s daughter as his target. “What a shame! And what would I tell Alfred about the criminal?”, thought Robert. Agostino moved back to pick up his gun which he was hiding under the table but before he could do that, Roberto jumped at him like an enraged dog and caught his hands from his back. Michael and other teammates moved forward and grabbed him while Robert handcuffed his hands. The girls were so scared that they screamed when they saw the detectives. Martha untied the girls and soothed them. All of them pointed at Agostino and told Robert that he was the one who had kidnapped them and brought them here. They told him that they had seen him cutting a dead girl’s flesh and drinking her blood, after which he buried her into a grave in the grave yard. Robert arrested Agostino and took him to the CID department for investigation. The girls were rescued and were taken to their families which cheered with joy. Alfred was delighted upon seeing his young girl but was shocked to know that his own friend proved to be the snake in cuff. However, Robert and his team had performed heroically to find out the criminal and discover at least some of the missing girls. Read More
