The report shall look at the different processes involved in town planning and then present the case specific analysis. Introduction: Town planning is an important concept that has emerged in the modernized global world, where there is a growing demand on the natural resources and there has to be sustainable and economic use made of the existing and available resources. It helps in exploring the wide range of aspects that are involved while planning and developing a new area, or in the urban renewal or regeneration that is required from time to time. (National Library of Australia) Its main concern is with the architectural development, regeneration of the specified or concerned area. It also looks into the sustainable aspect, as well as at the safety aspect of the development that is being conducted, and has to ensure that the plans adopted and implemented and viable economically, socially, culturally and most importantly environmentally.(Development Control) Landscape Analysis: The most important element of the planning process is the landscape analysis that is conducted, where the characteristics of the area are taken into account and then plans are drawn up according to this as to what landscape should be developed and adopted in the area. There are development of plans and designs which look into the arrangement of a number of things such as the fauna and flora that is flourishing in the area, the constructions that are to take place, landforms, and other natural elements such as the shape of the terrain, height of the area, water bodies in the area, buildings and other constructions such as lamp posts, bridges, transportational infrastructure etc. it also takes into account a number of abstract factors that are involved such as the climate experienced, whether, wind direction, lighting conditions, etc. This is required for the thriving planning and development of a successful plan. The geographical factors also need to be taken into account, as to whether it is exposed to natural calamities such as flooding, earthquakes, etc. All these factors have to be considered while selection of a site is being made. Thus, the aspect map and the slope map combined provide for a complete and detailed analysis of the terrain of any given site or area and are essential to the development of a sustainable planning procedure. It has to be realized that while planning and developing a site or an area the local fauna and flora are not destroyed but that it is ensured that it is preserved and allowed to flourish. The climatic conditions of an area can also be determined by studying the flora flourishing in the area. Compilation of Maps: There use of the already existing maps that have been compiled earlier have a lot of positive impacts on the planning procedure, as it not only hastens the whole process but it also allows for a more detailed and comprehensive study of the region as a whole. It allows for the existing data to be analyzed in the most efficient manner, and is more economical in nature. The draw back of this is that the information that is available may be out of date and this might have a negative effect on the project as such. Summary: To summaries the report it can be said that the urban and regional planning develops long- and short-term plans for the use of land and the growth and revitalization of urban, suburban, and rural communities and the region in which they are located. They help local officials alleviate social, economic, and environmental problems by recommending locations for roads, schools, and other infrastructure and suggesting zoning regulations for private property. This work includes forecasting the future needs of the population. Planning helps in to promote the best use of a community’s land and resources for residential, commercial, institutional, and recreational purposes. It addresses environmental, economic, and social health issues of a community as it grows and changes. It may formulate plans relating to the construction of new school buildings, public housing, or other kinds of infrastructure. Planning also may help to make decisions about developing resources and protecting ecologically sensitive regions. Planning also may help in the drafting of legislation on environmental, social, and economic issues, such as planning a new park, sheltering the homeless, or making the region more attractive to businesses. Before preparing plans for community development, planners study and report on the current use of land for residential, business, and community purposes.
