Medical-Dental Outreach Project for Children - Case Study Example

Graduates of this school are encouraged to come up with a worthy project to reflect the school’s influence on their value system and to apply their life skills and learning over the years that they have graduated from high school. The project is meant to give honor to the school by its graduates giving back to society. As the Pearl Jubilarians of the centennial homecoming event, members of Batch ’83 have decided to do a Medical-Dental Outreach project for needy children. This is because most of the batch members have entered the medical, dental, and healthcare fields and want to give back to society by serving those most in need.

The chosen beneficiary is the Blessed Angels Foundation, a home for neglected, abandoned, and orphaned children. This foundation operates through donations of private citizens and organizations as well as with provision from the local government. It accepts children adjudged by child services as lacking in care, so they are housed in the foundation to receive the care due them. Blessed Angels Foundation was established by a philanthropist who prefers to remain anonymous. The foundation is supported by the founder’s family, however, since more and more children are being accepted, funds are only enough to cover the children’s basic needs.

The children lack medical and dental services. Hence, a medical-dental outreach project has been planned out by St. Clare High School’s Batch ’83, with the children of the Blessed Angels Foundation as the beneficiary.Project management is “the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of company resources for a relatively short-term objective that has been established to complete specific goals and objectives” (Kerzner, 2006, p. 4). Similarly, Gray and Larson (2006) view project management as the “application of knowledge skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements” (p. 561).
