Personal ment of Purpose Personal ment of Purpose As an international I have successfully finished my studies in California State University in the electrical engineering department. Learning in California State University has significantly molded me as an all-round student. Therefore, it is evident that my decision of studying in that very University was fruitful. In fact, studying in this university is one of the unsurpassed choices I have made in my academic life. This paper will describe my personal experiences, career goals and interest in the power industry. After earning a scholarship to study in the United States, I was significantly elated with the offer. In the first year of my study, I met a lecturer named Eng James who was teaching me one of the units in electrical engineering. James substantially helped me in the chase of my profession by teaching me entrepreneurship skills. According to his remarks, it was quite evident that entrepreneurship was one of the significant aspects of a renowned businessman/woman. In this case, the most valuable lessons that I learnt from James was achieving my individual career goals. I was raised in a family unit which had a strong proclivity to the study of science. Therefore, I have developed a fascination for science since my childhood period. This fascination is what enabled me to take a career in electrical engineering. During my study, I have scored highly in most units in my course. As a major in electrical and electronics engineering, I have tremendous potential to becoming a leading force in all walks of life. This four year undergraduate study in the university as enabled me to learn that engineering is one of the most vital disciplines which govern human life (Baine, 2004). This is because the study of engineering imparts the learners with knowledge, which is considered as a valuable insight to the global market. During my study in the university, I gained knowledge in various subjects including power electronics, electronic circuit design and power systems. In addition, I have also gained information with regard to the developing technology. For instance, I am well acquainted in software design and programming languages. Throughout my learning, I was always one of the top ranked students in the engineering department. At one point in my studies, I was ranked the first student out of twelve thousand students among 18 universities in California in the department of engineering. I was also among the small percentage of students who had a constant academic record. I successfully cleared my studies last summer with 4.0 out of 5 GPA. In fact, I had studied extremely hard to earn a high grade in the course. On the other hand, I also found it difficult to study engineering courses since learners are required to maintain optimal concentration and hard work. As an Electrical Engineering graduate, I am significantly interested in the power industry. Based on my high grade and interest in science, there is a high possibility that I can get a job in the United States as an electrical engineer in the power industry (Bern, 2011). This can be a fantastic opportunity for me because the United States has the most developed technology in the global scene. However, there are numerous individuals who continually discourage me by telling me that getting a well-paying job in the United States is extremely hard as an international student. However, I strongly believe that the difficulty in getting a job will not affect me since I was taught about entrepreneurship in the university. This lecture will enable me to create jobs for others through self-employment. I am proud of being a graduate from the University of California. As I was learning in California, I occasionally participated in several seminars that were organized in the engineering department. These seminars provided me with a platform to interact with intellectual individuals in the engineering sector. In fact, I have also gained insight that has enabled me to join the power industry. After earning my undergraduate degree in engineering, I have been motivated to become part of the electronic movement. I am extremely fascinated in power electronics and VLSI designing. In fact, James taught me how I could become confident in regard to some of the fundamentals in the power industry. These fundamentals enabled me to specialize in power electronics (Bern, 2011). In the recent past, I have been conducting research in my career. According to the information I gathered from my research it is relatively evident that power electronics requires individuals with a high intelligence quotient and hard working spirit (Horton, 2012). I also strive to live according to the standards set in the academic community. According to my family members, the American education system is identified as the best system of education globally. The environment in the University of California stimulates the learners to optimize the use of their talents in the job industry. Research asserts that the United States is a continually developing country in terms of technology. My knowledge in computers and optical fibers has also enabled me to enhance my knowledge in the communications sector. Furthermore, individuals who have an understanding of computers and electricity are able to make decisions concerning excellence. After studying in the United States, I am extremely confident that my graduate degree in electrical engineering will enable me to have an exposure of the developing scientific world. I am fully able to develop my career as an individual in accordance with the policy issues. In summary, the learning period in the University of California has enabled to discover the hidden potential in most engineering students (Horton, 2012). As stipulated above, I am extremely charmed as a graduate from the university. In addition, I also appreciate the professors who enabled me to incorporate strong confidence levels for my future career. As an international student, there might be a lot of difficulties that I can face, but I am actually ready for taking every difficulty and getting over it.
