Extract of sample "Instrumentation of Electrical Devices"

Application of ‘active electrical components’ for completing circuits into electrical applications is what interests me the most in the course because it exhibits a capacity to power appliances. This interest encouraged me to participate in voluntary work in an electronics company in my locality where I gained knowledge and skills in the identification and testing of electronic components, and basic connectivity of appliances. Electronics engineering also directly fits into my career, being an electrical engineer, as it is a recognized academic qualification into the profession. I desire to pursue my course in the UK because of the international recognition of its universities for quality education that will give me an advantage in the international job market.
I would also like to assure the faculty that I have made necessary arrangements for finances to facilitate my uninterrupted study. Besides my academic interest in your institution, I am likely to add to the institution’s competitiveness through participation in football and swimming competitions since these are my developed and refined hobbies.

...the technologists to search for more energy efficient practices and hence could achieve major break through in energy efficiency as it is reported that the efficiency have really doubled since 1954. The reports available show that the fuel mix has more or less remained constant since 1980 (Lave, 291). According to the reports of U.S. Department of energy, half the quantity f electricity generated is from coal, nuclear plants account for 20 percent of the generated electricity, while hydroelectric plants contributes 7 percent and finally renewable energy and petroleum products account for 2 percent each. The significant thrust has been given by most of the state administrations to maximize the use of the...

... (BIA). This instrument operates on the principle that fat retains less water than muscle. The increased percentage of water in muscle makes it a better electrical conductor and by measuring a body's resistance to current flow, we can measure the body's fat content. This non-invasive technique is well suited for a wide range of subjects including elderly and disabled. The measurement is fast, easy to use, and is able to be used with a minimum of training due to a direct electronic readout. The cost is comparable to the Skinfold calipers and the accuracy obtained is similar to the Skinfold method. However, to attain this accuracy care must be taken to void the subject of alcohol, urine and other liquids for up to 48 hours prior... ...

...of microcontrollers, ADC and computers in the cycle. A typical digitised process control instrumentation system is as follows: Figure 1: Instrumentation System (Kester 15) 2. Sensors and Transducers: Strictly speaking, a sensor is a device that receives a signal or stimulus and responds with an electrical signal, while a transducer is a converter of one type of energy into another. In practice, however, the terms are often used interchangeably. Sensors and their associated circuits are used to measure various physical properties such as temperature, force, pressure, flow, position, light intensity, etc. These properties act as the stimulus to the sensor, and the sensor...

...Instrumentation and Control Question a) Answer A graph of output at 200C (mV) versus input mass(Kg). Static transfer function refers to the ratio of system output in steady state to system input in steady state and describes the input-output relationship when the input and output are not changing. Therefore taking an input mass of 5Kg with an output of 14.34mV, Therefore static sensitivity = (b) Answer Non-linearity refers to the deviation from the linear relationship between the input and output values. Between 0 to 1 Kg output changes by 3.5mV, Between 1 to 2 Kg output changes by 2.86mV, Between 2 to 3 Kg output changes by...

The left key turns the instrument on while at the same time used to execute its functions. Contrarily, the right key helps in switching between the MAX and MIN-value. The device displays the pressure range after turn-on for two seconds before changing into measuring mode. The functions of the device include: RESET: Max/Min value are set to the actual pressure. OFF: Used to turns off the instrument ZERO: Used to set a new zero reference CONT: It deactivates the automatic turn-off function. The instrument is...

...INSTRUMENTATION Affiliation INSTRUMENTATION Instruments are the devices that are used in the measurement under study. It provides for the data dispensation, testing and designing of the outcomes (Vogt, 2006). Hence, for our research we decided to use questionnaires that were presented to all the sales consultants selected and the managers. Since the sample size was relatively high, the criterion proved to be more appropriate both in cost and effectiveness. And to make our research more predictive, we had predictive devices that help us to find out other unrestricted responses that the participants were not willing to provide to us. For purposes of...

...Automatic Washing Machine of Affiliation With the modern technology, industrial automation is inevitable. Mostindustries use programmable logic controllers in their automation process. One advantage is the reduction in cost of production with an increased quality of output, hence reliability. Washing machines can also employ the same principles of design. This report describes a ladder programme for an automated washing machine designed using programmable logic controller technologies. The assumption made in this project is that the inputs for the sensors are signals that are automatically measured from the environment. Also, the machine runs on all types of quality of clothes and has no effect on the lower quality It is also... Washing...
