Executive summary

The value attached to education is immeasurable and all nations across the globe try to ensure the education sector is reinforced. It should be noted that education that can transform the society and the nation in general is education of quality. This is the kind of education that is responsive to the proceeding sin the society.

Quality education has to consider four key parameters, which includes quality of learners, quality of the content, quality of the learning environment and lastly the process of transferring knowledge or skill. An education system that takes these four parameters into account will have quality education. The benefits accrued to quality education are massive and stretches over to other sector of the economy.

People’s Republic of China has been used as an example to elaborate the impact quality education can have on a nation. China has greatly benefited from education as exhibited from the technology level. This has given China an edge to engage in trade with other nations. Diversity in culture is present in China by persons from different regions residing in China. This is the benefit of education, encouraging co-existence of persons.

Introduction

The society has appreciated the value education with regards to the level of transformation it is capable to initiate. Therefore, education plays a critical role in the growth and development of the society and a nation in general. Thus, the need to ensure that the education system adopted by a nation meets the need of the society is critical. For education to satisfy the need of the society, all aspects that are requisite in the process of pursuit of education have to be of quality. Therefore, if education is of quality of what impact could it have then to the society? People’s Republic of China boasts of quality education system which has positively impacted on its progress.

Constituent of quality education

Education is supposed to dispense knowledge to the public for it to be able to address matters affecting the society. However, the issues affecting the society with time and thus education need to be responsive to the issues. The content of education need to tackle issues affecting the society, thus it has to be dynamic rather than being static. Education system should have a monitoring system to evaluate its level of relevance as far as the need of the society is concerned. Reviewing the content needs to be conducted for the elimination of irrelevant content, as a response to changes in the society. For instance, the growing concern for environmental protection needs to be incorporated in the education content. Currently, education curriculum incorporates environmental issues so that learners may be in a position to conserve and protect the environment. It should emphasize on depth in coverage rather than broadness and cover critical areas of knowledge. (Darling-Hammond, 32). A research on the content needs to done extensively to collect facts, that will enhance quality of education to address several issues affecting the society. This gives a chance for underlying issues to spur further research in attempt to solve various problems.

A conducive environment plays a vital role towards the pursuit of knowledge; therefore, the state of the environment needs to be taken into account. The learning environment has to be receptive to facilitate dispense of knowledge. A surrounding that is cool and free from unnecessary noise is regarded as a learning environment that prepares the students psychological to learn. For instances a learning institution that is close to a market, compromises the quality of education. This is because the attention of the students will be diverted to the happening in the market. Facilitation in the transfer of knowledge has been enhanced over years and thus learning institution need to check on the process of transfer of knowledge. The physical facilities need to be well equipped; the working conditions of teachers also need to be welcoming. (Darling-Hammond, 35). Classrooms which form part of physical facilities should reflect the level of education that is being dispensed. For instance, the settings for a university level education and a kindergarten are different. The essence is to ensure quality education is dispensed to learners and grasped easily without causing ambiguity of whatsoever. Quality education should be capable to identify and enhance talents endowed by learners. This is facilitated by the availability of requisite facilities within a learning institution that will the learners an opportunity to exploit their talents.

Education is not an end product, but a process by itself that needs to be in line towards quality education. The status of students in the process of dispensing of knowledge determines the quality of education. Process of acquiring knowledge refers to how different level of education has been established. This is because each level of education should facilitate the process of dispensing knowledge. However, the process involved should not contravene the way of life of the surrounding facilities. For instance, a region where technology is a challenge, technology is not a suitable avenue to be considered as a process of acquiring knowledge. In such regions teachers who are skillful plays a crucial role in the process of acquiring knowledge. Teachers need to be of high quality with mastery of subject matter (Darling-Hammond, 1997). Student s form part of the education process and their status influence quality of education. The learners need to be physically, psychologically and psychosocially healthy for a successful experience of formal learning (Darling-Hammond, 39). It should be noted that education should be available and accessible even to the disabled. Therefore, the status of the disabled students should be catered for by having the learners psychologically comfortable with the process adopted for knowledge transfer. Learning process should be efficient as possible to facilitate transfer of knowledge.

Benefits of quality education

It cannot be debated on the fact that education opens up the mind and encourages creativity. Education that is responsive to the happenings in the society will be reflected on the quality of students it presents to the society. Through the process of acquiring knowledge, ideas are generated that can be transformed into business. Credit has to be given to education for this fact, that students have developed courage to engage into businesses or develop business idea that has transformed the society. These business ideas are the source of employment for members of the society and this means that the living condition enhances. If this is the benefits associated with quality education, efforts should be directed to ensure third world nations have an education system that supports quality education. According to (Grubb, and Lazerson, 58), this provides an opportunity to explore the outcome of the research for economic gain. The developments that are seen in a nation be it infrastructure or healthcare are from taxes the government collected. Business community are the leading the taxpayers in any economy. This, therefore, means that promoting quality education in a country is promoting economy growth for the benefit of the citizens. Governments across the globe admit to this fact and have formed bodies that are mandated to monitor the education system in attempt to ensure quality is not compromised.

People across the globe emanate from different backgrounds that have distinct way of life. However, this should not be an impediment in the quest for education. A learning institution which allows students from different walk of life to integrate with each other facilitates transfer of quality education. Education has the capability of transforming how people relate for the benefit of co-existing. Students of different background share the culture and appreciate their differences. In the process, student will understand the extent they can make fun of their colleague without stepping on their toes. There are nations where civil wars have erupted based on ethnic differences or culture differences. Tragedy like this occurring in twenty-first century is quite unfortunate and it indicates that quality education is missing in this nations. Education of quality does not discriminate any member of the society, thus making the society to be cohesive (McMahon, 72). The fact that education opens up the mind of a learner to know that despite the differences life has to go on, cohesiveness is achieved through celebrating the diversity. It can be argued that education stabilizes a region, because educated persons understand that nothing can be solved by violence rather than dialogue. This represents a civilized nation that attracts the rest of the rest of the world and this is the path towards economy growth and development.

It has been debated that leaders are not born are made, while other camp argue that leaders are born not made. All these arguments have their line of defense; however, what should be of concerned is the type of leader each argument is defending. Organizations have leaders, who have let down the society by their actions. Education that is considered to be of quality sprouts focused and brilliant leaders. These leaders have the capability of developing and implementing ideas for the benefit of the society. Leaders can be born, but for them to stand out with quality leadership, they have to be shaped by undergoing a quality education process. At the same time education system can create a leader with an outstanding quality. According to (Goldschmidt, and Danmark, 81), the quality of a leader is shaped on the level of education, as well as, the quality one went through. Some learning institutions have experienced series of strikes and bullying. This a key concern on the quality of education dispensed to the students. This is because future leaders cannot use that kind of avenue to air their grievances. Institutions administration should practice an open-door policy management. This will create a cordial relationship between management and students, thus instilling leadership attributes into the students.

There have being conflicting interpretation of education by different stakeholders. Scholars refer to education as a process that facilitates transfer of knowledge, skills, or values through training, discussion or teaching. Based on this definition classroom learning is part of education. Therefore, education recognizes the differences in personality thus the diversity on education to accommodate all persons. An education system that is of quality is capable to identify students’ endowment and build on it for the success of the students. A learning institution should establish a system that will be aid students to showcase their talents and once identified process of fostering it should be in place. This does not mean that the mainstream education should be abandoned by the student. But the talent will give students an edge to define their position in the society.

The impact of quality education on the Chinese

The value of education can be manifested in China. With an enrollment of three hundred and twenty million learners in the available learning institution is a clear indication of the value education has been placed by Chinese. The life of the People’s Republic of China has greatly enhanced has a result of quality education. Education has spur creativity in China, thus opening opportunities for Chinese to have source of income. In the process the government is able to collect tax and enhance public services such as the train services. Technology level in China is massive which has improved other sectors like healthcare, security, banking et cetera. Most firms have opened their subsidiary branches in China because of the level of technology which has enhanced production process. Facilities like healthcare have greatly being enhanced by the technology. Chinese education system recognizes the dynamic nature of issues thus education content is reviewed to enhance quality. Technology field faces high rate of obsolescence, therefore, requires continuous upgrade of the technology. As a result of this education ought to be dynamic also to address issues such like these ones.

Business across borders has been enhanced by the fact that no nation can comfortably declare to be self-sufficient. China just like other states requires the supply of goods and services from other nations. Interdependence of economies encourages trade across borders. The big question is how trade occurs or what facilitates trade across borders. Education plays a key role in ensuring trade that a nation engages in, is of value. Trading with other nations requires a deep analysis on which products its worth producing and which one to import. Also in the year 2015 towards the end Chinese government devalue their currency in a bid to win investor. Such kinds of move are not just conducted by average-people, but those well equipped with economic knowledge. Credit has to be given to the education system of China for bringing-up such kind of brilliant economists. However, this changed once it joined the WTO, and its impact on trade forced Western world to introduce programs that will train its citizens on Chinese culture and language (Wang, 255). Common language is a vital element when conducting trade across borders. Previously, the Chinese were satisfied with their language the same way with the western world. Currently, Chinese speak English, French et cetera while Western worl have learned Chinese language.

Different culture represented from various regions of the world needs to be celebrated and appreciated. An education system that fails to admit the existence of this difference is not fit to be deliver quality education. Education should be accessible to all interested persons without any form of discrimination. Diversity of culture across the globe is inevitable and Chinese education system appreciates all these cultures. This is a great stride for China and other nations that believe diversity in culture forms part of the society. Learning institutions in China admits students from different nations either through scholarship or normal admission (Broto, 61). Despite their different backgrounds the students are able to understand and appreciate the value attached to different cultures. Education broadens the thinking capability beyond culture or background differences towards rational thinking. Currently, persons of different ways of lives reside in different parts of China without fear of rejection.

Women form big portion of our society and regarded as the owner of the society. However, their plight has not been considered by different society. Some societies have positioned women as second-class citizens and therefore, their issues are not given priorities. Prior formation of People’s Republic of China in the year 1949, Women in China faced the same challenge as their counterpart in Africa. However, this came to pass once the potential of women was recognized and women were empowered by all means to compete with men on a fair ground. According to (Hinsch, 153), education enlightened the Chinese society on the benefits of gender equality; currently women enjoy their position in the society. The capability women possessed was able to be tapped by education. Education is supposed to offer equal opportunities for both men and women. The difference that should exist is in skills equipped by either gender based on the capability. It has been argued that a nation that equips or educates the women it has equipped the society. Sense is attached to this argument because women have exhibited the capability to transform the society once equipped with relevant skills, knowledge or training.

Trends in the Chinese education sector

Change in time has not left behind education. Technology has been incorporated in education to assist in the process of transferring knowledge. Creativity enhanced by education, should also enhance the process of dispensing knowledge. Technology being a product of quality education it has transformed education sector in China for the better. For instance, students have been able to grasp complicated concepts through the use computer aided software that simplifies the content (Wentzville, 73). Audio-visual aspect of computer-aided software makes the concept being taught to appear realistic and also makes learning interesting. The increasing cost of living, has forced Chinese to have a tight schedule and this has led to creative mind to improve education access. Internet has made education accessible regardless of distance difference by what is referred to as e-learning or online learning (Clark, and Mayer, 105). At the comfort of someone’s office or home, they can attend lectures and perform tasks similar to students who use the mainstream form of learning.

Maintaining quality of education for future generation in China

Quality of education has to be maintained or enhanced failure to do so then the repercussions are severe for a nation. Chinese have come from far in strengthening their education system, thus having the highest enrollment level and it would be a tragedy if its education quality is compromised. Through the participation of all involved parties to brainstorm ideas that will impact positively to the education quality will ensure education is in line with the progress of the society. Interaction among parents, teachers, and students, who form key participants in the education sector, more frequently might impact on the quality of education (Mayhew, 28). For a harmonious relationship resolution on issues should be made y all parties thus making them abide to the resolution. The government also plays a facilitative role by ensuring learning institutions meets certain value as well as providing framework for the operation of learning institution. This framework is vital in holding learning institution’s administration into account over a low quality of education. Corporate world should not be left because they dictate what the market demand from the education system (Mayhew, 47). According to (Mayhew, 47), companies should meet with educationists and discuss on what needs to be done to ensure students are prepared for the job market and not the job market prepared for them.

Conclusion

The value education has been attached by different societies across the globe proves the capability of education. Education being a weapon to liberate people, then it has to be reinforced to make it powerful. It is indisputable several nations like China have made huge stride because of education being of quality by it addressing issues affecting the society. On this account, education system that is concerned with development in the society and the world at large is worth to be termed as quality education. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all persons to ensure education is of quality by playing their role regardless of how small they might be.
