The importance of concentration increases for a students because what ever a student learns will help to shape up the carrier of the student and will help to determine the long term prospect of the student. This requires that proper methods and strategies are developed through which the student is able to concentrate on the studies and is able to provide the required directives through which better performance will be delivered. I continuously get distracted while studying which has an adverse impact on my grades and performance. This report thereby looks to examine the different theoretical concepts which are important to the field of studying with concentration and the manner it will have an impact on the overall performance. This has been matched by an action plan which will help to understand the changes which has taken place so that better monitoring of the performance becomes possible and the manner in which changes have taken place can be examined so that I am able to perform better. This will act as a framework through which my performance will get shaped up and will help me to deliver better results. Rationale for the Study I have chosen to research concentration of studying as i think i have a low level efficiency during studying. For example, I am constantly getting up to do thinks, going on the computer; it is always something that’s distracting me. When I am reading notes off my computer, I automatically open a new window and do something else. The problem is that some people can only concentrate on stuff that they are interested in. This is why people just specialize in a small range of subjects. However, in one semester, I must choose some subjects which i am not interested in. Also, there is external distraction. External distractions can range from a loud neighbor’s music to your chair being uncomfortable (Kaminl 2012). It is important to control as many variables around you as possible when studying, below are some external distractions to watch out for, such as noise, lighting and physical setting. Based on these theories, I can make a plan to solve my lower studying efficiency then finish my semester successful. Therefore, by developing my concentration of studying skills, I believe that I will be somehow able to spend less time obtaining the highest studying efficiency in order to improve my overall grade and better prepare for my future work. I also believe that great concentration of studying skills will create a career advantage that will pay off handsomely. Impact of lack of concentration Unable to concentrate on studies have an impact on the overall development of a student as it creates the gap between the most efficient student and others in the class. The lack of concentration has managerial implications as well as it starts to build the building block which will have an impact on the performance of a student and will thereby determine the future difficulties. I was also undergoing the same situation as being unable to concentrate had started to take a toll on my studies and the future seemed dark because of the inability to work through the best possible manner. This leads towards the following implications for the field of managerial practices Lack on innovation: Students who are unable to concentrate from the very early age find it difficult to think out of the box because their mind wanders on things and process which won’t fetch the required positive results. This makes the person look like one who doesn’t have a presence of mind and is unable to justify the different roles and position that is entrusted resulting in a lack of required results (Matthews, Davies & Westerman, 2000) Wastage of Resources: The lack of focus, or concentration, or attention results in a lot of wastage of resources as the same thing has to be repeated to the student again and again. This will thereby consume time, effort and money and would lead towards a situation where the entire effectiveness is reduced (Matthews, Davies & Westerman, 2000). The overall impact for managers would be that the organization won’t be able to find the correct person for the future and would have an impact on the overall performance. Unable to use the skills: Lack of concentration also has an adverse impact as it creates a situation through which the skills which I have are not being used in the positive manner. This thereby has an impact on the overall style through which I work and affect my future (Matthews, Davies & Westerman, 2000). Lack of concentration makes it difficult to understand the different requirements and thereby has an impact on the overall performance level. Dimension of Learning The following chart highlights the dimension of learning which has an influence on the student and determines the future role and responsibilities for the students. This thereby has an impact on skill areas to be able to apply different effective management practices and is as (Jonassen, Howland, Marra & Crismond, 2008) The best way to reduce distraction and increasing awareness would be through the process of personalized learning. This will help each student to focus and will ensure optimal concentration. The difficulty for having such an environment increases in a classroom setting because of the presence of a large number of students. This requires that apart from having a personalized school experience the inner core has to organized in such a manner that it looks towards effective learning so that the future field of management practices are able to provide positive results (Jonassen, Howland, Marra & Crismond, 2008). This will help to use the different technological advancements and bring about the required turnaround through which concentration in determined and will help to develop individuals who are better trained and have the required skills to deliver superior performance which will ensure better growth. This will also have an impact for different management practices as it will help to develop individuals who are able to develop better strategies and ensure innovation in their work. The overall style will help the management fraternity to develop new strategies which can be utilized for ensuring that employees remain attentive and are able to provide the most beneficial results for the organization. Skills area to be concentrated on The ability to perform well and ensure that the different dimensions of learning are used to improve my concentration level will aim towards improving special skills through which better development becomes possible. This will thereby have an impact on the overall skills which I have and will be able to deliver better results through it and is as Focus: The overall aim will be to improve focus which will require that I am able to understand the different facets which are communicated and am able to use it towards my development. The overall aim will be to ensure that through the process of concentration I am able to focus on the work on hand and ensure that distractions are minimized (Khine & Fisher, 2003). This will help to use the different skills and will provide an opportunity through which I will be able to deliver better results. Better use of skills: Through the process of improving my concentration I want to ensure that I am able to use the different skills which I have possessed in the most beneficial manner. This will require that I am able to concentrate on the work on hand and ensure better attention towards the work. This will help to use my skills positively and will have a positive impact on my performance Attention: This is another area which I need to develop my skills and being able to deliver the required attention will help to ensure that I am able to understand the different things and will be able to concentrate better. This will help to use the resources in the best possible manner and will deliver a situation through which I am able to ensure better results (Ainley & Luntley, 2007). Reason for improving concentration Improving concentration will help to provide strategies through which I will be able to understand and retain whatever I learn. This will be achieved by using some strategies which helps improve concentration when studying. The main purpose of concentration is that giving all your attention to one subject (Kern, 2006). Studying is difficult for some people because they have trouble focusing on the task for a long period of time. There is a general phenomenon about when a student have everything ready to begin studying, such as: books, pens, and notebook paper is nearby for notes. After sitting down, when you begin to focus intently on the study material, you will lose all concentration. Concentration can be learned through practice and repetition. In this assignment I will find some tips on how to concentrate better when i study. Once I identify and overcome these obstacles, my study time will be more effective, satisfying and enjoyable. Models to improve concentration The improvement of concentration requires using different models and understand the entire mechanism through which I will be able to concentrate on my studies and able to deliver better results. Some of the model which can help to achieve the same is as Gagne’s Nine Learning Steps: The model developed by Gagne helps to provide the useful direction through which concentration level of students can be improved. This will help me to develop the required focus and ensure that I am able to concentrate more on studies and is as (Dorman, 2002) The above model highlights on gaining attention which is achieved by activating the receptors so that focus improves. This has to be backed by informing the learners on the method through which the objectives will be achieved, ensuring that the learning is recalled, providing guidance, feedback and enhancing the performance so that better retention of the learning is generated and will help to improve the focus through which overall learning can be enhanced. Teacher directed learning with use of technology: This model aims at looking towards presence of teacher so that the entire process of ensuring concentration improves and looks towards using the assistance of technology and is as (Bitter & Legacy, 2008) The above chart highlights that the use of technology and focus should be developed which will help to concentrate on the studies the students have undergone and will require that the overall process helps to improve the learning process. This will thereby help to bring the required changes and will ensure that the process of concentration improves and the results which are achieved is effective. Integrated learning environment with technology: This model aims at developing an integrated environment through which the use of technology enables to understand the different learning and provides the required framework through which retention becomes better and is as (Bitter & Legacy, 2008) The above model clearly highlights that the entire step should be such that it helps to improve the concentration level and uses technology to transform the process of learning. This will bring the required role changes and will help to develop the required process through which the concentration level improves and I am able to deliver better performance Thus, the different models aims at improving the level of concentration through different ways and looks towards ensuring that overall effectiveness is gained and the skills are used in the best possible manner. Action Plan To be able to ensure that the different models provides the best result it is important that I monitor the development which is taking place in me and the manner in which my level of concentration has improved. This will provide an opportunity to make the changes at the correct time and will ensure that the overall effectiveness in learning and retention improves. The action plan is as Week 1: The week was spent on identifying the most likely areas that I need to improve and the skills I must develop in order to achieve improvement in my concentration level. This has been matched by the fact that the resources are obtained which are related to concentration studying skills from library and internet. It is expected that using the different resources different sources will be identified through which the concentration level will improve. In reality the final result which was achieved was gathering the theories on concentration of studying skills from different sources were accomplished. Week 2: This week looked towards determining the goal which has to be achieved after looking at the different theories so that a goal is developed and the efforts are being directed towards the goal. To accomplish it I looked at reading the description of this assignment and then setting a goal of assignment and finishing it step by step. This should thereby ensure that I have the required resources through which I will be able to achieve the objectives and at the end of the week I was able to find out most of the words and resources which were specific to my areas and will help me to move ahead with the objective Week 3: This week I was looking to take help of the different database, resources which will provide the required guidance. This week, I should gather and make a list of helpful sites and databases, as well as newspapers and journals. Take full advantage of library and online resources. Have the list of keywords handy and use them to refine my search. To ensure that I was able to achieve the desired objectives it was expected that while searching for the relevant information I don’t open windows which are not relevant to the study and concentrate only on those areas which are important. The overall result was that being able to concentrate on the required areas and removing the distractions helped me to accomplish the task within 4 hours. Week 4: This week concentrated on dividing the total time into break time and studying time. By breaking up the work, I will have my overall objective divided up into small tasks. This will have a clear plan and structure for your assignment makes writing much easier and faster and ensures that the resources are used in the best possible manner. To achieve the stated objective I divided the work into introduction, body contents, assignments tables, conclusion and reference. I worked according to the required plan and was able to witness the transformation as I was able to concentrate more on the work on hand and achieve better results Week 5: This week concentrated on having one big objective cut up into small tasks so that I set deadlines for accomplishing these small tasks. My deadline should be based on my motive for studying, such as studying for that assignment whose due date is coming up. Also, I should focus on this assignment and ignore others external factors. To accomplish the determined objectives I looked at finishing introduction in and some parts of body paragraph in this week. Also I should remember give a 15 minutes break during 1 hour studying. The overall impact was positive as I was able to concentrate better on the different aspect which helped me to deliver better performance helped me to accomplish the task which was determined for the week easily Week 6: This week concentrated on the writing style and ensuring clarity in whatever I write. This looked at using my concentration of studying skills to continue other parts of body paragraph. This helped to develop a clear purpose which outlines the key ideas of an argument or idea in a consistent and logical way. The overall effect was that I was able to reflect key points of the assessment criteria and write logical arguments with clear purposes which thereby ensured that the entire project seemed purposeful. Week 7: This week concentrated on rewarding myself with breaks as studying is hard work, and sometimes that can be harder than manual labor. Through these rewards, you are giving yourself something to look forward to and allowing your mind to rest. This week thereby concentrated on finishing the body paragraph. While finish this task, I will give me some break time to relax myself like watching some TV shows, listening music, or doing some outdoor sports. This thereby ensured that I was able to concentrate better and work on the different requirements as breaks helped to refresh me and I was able to work with the same energy and ensured that the objective was achieved Week 8: In this week, you will have good studying skills and you can focus on studying by developing good concentration skills. This was reflected in my style of learning as my concentration level improved and I was able to accomplish the task easily and was also able to concentrate on other work Week 9: The completion of the entre process ensured that with these skills, I will have more studying confidence than before. This will help me further and ensure that in the future I will be able to complete the paper even quickly then I was able to achieve this time Week 10: Give myself a feedback and write a conclusion to include the improvements and cover the areas that still need to be improved. This was accomplished by spending additional 2 hours in this week to write myself a summary about how to concentrate on studying. This will thereby ensure the required transformation and ensure that I am able to concentrate better on my studies Thus, the action plan which was developed clearly highlighted that overall development was possible and helped to bring the required transformation through which my concentration level improved. Conclusion The report thereby provides the different theories and models to improve concentration and highlights the different implications it has on the studies. This helped to improve my concentration level as developing an action plan showed the different areas through which I was able to get better results and improve the overall focus on studies.
