Running Title: Internationalisation Of education Student’s Name: Instructors Name: Course Code and Name: Institution: Date Assignment is due: The Internationalization of education Today many students are leaving their homes and going for further education overseas. This is because of the effects of globalization. Most of these students come from countries like China and malayia. They come to study in universities in countries like Britain, and Germany. This is what is known as globalization of education. The globalization of education has both positive effects, and negative effects. In other words, the internationalisation of education has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages and disadvantage are to the home country, and to the country of study. It is useful to point out that those international students are changing education in the western world. The essay is going to look at the harms, and benefits of international education. The internationalisation of education has many benefits for the country of study. One of the benefits is that the students who come from overseas to study are very hard working. They are also remarkably clever. This means that it is very easy to teach them. Because they are hardworking, their teachers love them as they do their work in time. When they are put in groups with students from the study country, those local students benefit. This is because they are able to share the intellect of these foreign students (Harrison, Cushen & Hutchison, 2006). These international students pay fees to the university (Harrison, Cushen & Hutchison, 2006). This means that the university is getting extra money. The universities in the countries of study benefit from the money that these students pay. They can use the money to increase the salary of their teachers. The universities also use the money these students pay to improve the infrastructure of the university. Buildings like laboratories, and administration buildings can be built using the money provided by the international students. Important equipment can be bought using the money that these students pay. These are equipment like science equipments, games equipments and others that might be needed by the university. This is then another benefit for the country of study. This is the fact that has made Britain to admit so many foreign students (Huntsman, 2010). This is because the country has about 270,000 international students in higher education. This is a big number compared to the total number of huger education students of 2 million (Harrison, Cushen & Hutchison, 2006). Another benefit of these international students to the home country is because these students bring many good ideas from their home countries. This is because these students come from countries that have a rich culture. They come from countries that have remarkably interesting histories. These countries are countries like China and India. The international students make the class gossips to be juicy. They transform the culture of the university to become remarkably intresting. This way they help to reduce boredom in the universities. They also make l university life less stressing especially when learning becomes difficulty (Huntsman, 2010). Making western universities entrepreneurial is another benefit of these foreign students (Harrison, Cushen & Hutchison, 2006). This is because many universities have been made to become business oriented by these international students. These means that the universities do not depend only on the government to provide for their finances. It has made universities in Britain and America to start selling education. This is quote important to the university education system. It makes the universities improve the courses they offer to the students. This is because they know that if they do not improve the course they offer to their students, the students will go to other universities. This way the education system of the home country improves. It is said that in Great Britain even the middle level colleges and universities have gone entrepreneurial. In relation to the above point it is important to note the international students subsidize the education of the local students. This is because they pay higher fees than the local students. This is a huge benefit to the country of study. This is because many poor students can be able to learn through this way. International students are remarkably demanding (Harrison, Cushen & Hutchison, 2006). This makes the teachers work extra hard and is a major plus for the local students. The local student can learn to be hard working from these students. The international students impact the local students to work very hard. This is because he international students work hard because they are expected to work hard by their parents and their governments. International education is quite expensive and it makes these foreign students to be demanding in the provision of university services. International students have some harm also to the country of study. One of the harms is that the teachers have to pay extra attention to these students. This is because they have to be given language support. The time they are been given this language support is the time that the teachers should spend teaching the local students. Because of their different cultures sometimes they make learning difficulty in the country of study. This is because these international students are not accustomed to the habit of students talking in class. This means that they sometimes fail to contribute in class because it is against their culture. This is quite detrimental to the learning process Huntsman, 2010). . International students are quite bright. They is the students who top their classes. This means that they are the favorites of their teachers. This is a disadvantage. The teachers do sometimes favor them at the expense of the local students. This means that conflicts might arise that are not good for the university.Alghough they do not take up the chances for the local students, these international students make some course to be clustered. These are courses like medicine and enginereeing. The implication is that they make local student miss out on some important course like medicine. This author feels that this is the reason that the western world has began to import doctors and nurses from the home countries of these students (Beaver &Tucker, 1999). The home countries of these students also enjoy some benefits from international education. One of the benefits is that they get qualified people in many fields. This is because the international students get international education when they go abroad. This international education is remarkably important to the nations fro which these countries are born. The internationaliastion of education makes these international students to return to their home countries and make positive contributions (Beaver &Tucker, 1999). These contributions are in the fields of business, education politics and medicine. The home countries benefit when these students return because they have studied at the best colleges. This means that they have the best knowledge that is useful for nation building. Another benefit of the internationalisation of education to the home country is that the overseas colleges offer grants to bright students from poor countries like Malaysia and India. This means that students who had no hope of getting a good education receive one. This is a huge benefit to the home country because it means that load of educating some of these students fall on other people. This way the home governments do save money. This author believes that the internalisation of education makes the home country to have good relationships with other important governments like the governments of Britain. The internalisation of education has some harm to the home country of these students. This is because the best students go o study abroad. This means that he local university will not have the best students. This is to say that the education system of the home country might go down. This might make students and other people think that the local universities are not good. This is especially so if the best student go to universities overseas (Feifei, 2008). There is also the possibility that these students who go abroad might not return to the home country. The foreign universities might stay with these students by paying them big salaries. This will make the home country to lose important people who can help the home country (Feifei, 2008). To conclude, the essay has said that the internalisation of education has both benefits, and disadvantages. Some the benefits to the country of study are that that country receives the best students. The universities in these countries improve their education because of these international students. The universities in these foreign countries get money from international students that they use to build new buildings. The money is also used to increase the salaries of their teachers and lecturers. International students also enrich the culture of the universities of study. They make the local students to work hard. The harm these international educations do to the country of study is that they are very demading. This means that they take the time of their teachers more than the local students. (Kaverkas & Masher, 2010). When it comes to the home country of these international students, there are also some benefits. Some of them are that the home country gets people who are well trained. Some of these people are people like doctors. The harm to the home country is that there might be brain drain of their best people (Kaverkas & Masher, 2010). Internationalisation of education is however quite beneficial to all countries.
