It is recommended to use a pointer since it is significant for showing and ensuring that the teacher is meekly following and joining the words appealingly as you read. Language orientation should be optional for the teacher to explain. The use of similes, pronouns, literacy language, and many others should be well addressed. For instance, in the story of Eric, there are some examples of such a language i.e. “For once I could be a local expert, a fountain of interesting facts and opinions.

” (Shuan, 2008) The student should read the text on their own so as to get more knowledge. During this exercise, the student is expected to be evaluating the language used in the presentation of the story. Then after the text is well understood by the students, the teacher will then proceed to the word study within the text. The last bit on this is the assessment of the student’s understanding. Evaluate the students in levels. Firstly, provide a joint task, patterned writing, and independent writing and finally assess them for literacy outcomes.

The story titled Eric is one of the short stories enclosed in the mass book of Shaun Tan called "Tales from outer suburbia". It is much thought-provoking, linguistically gorgeous, and suitable for the young generation such as children and students. The story has a good modeling ability, especially in the writing and reading aspects of education. The above features make it integral and most appropriate for the success of the scaffolding literacy application. This story is potentially stable and suitable for scaffolding literacy series with k-2 level, particularly with the specifications of the reading ability of the class.

For instance, “For once I could be a local expert, a fountain of interesting facts and opinions.” The author used much literacy language such as smiles, and personification to make non-living things to take the role of living creatures. The adverbial phrases, adverbs, and ellipsis are too applied in the text writing by the author. Throughout the story, Shuan has pliantly applied all the literacy language to establish the imagery within the minds of the readers and the children.
