The aim of this K-2 junior English program is to encourage positive attitudes towards learning English among juniors as well as develop their ability in using the English language more effectively and in a critical reflection manner. Additionally, this program endeavors to develop children's knowledge and confidence in using the English language when it comes to a broader understanding of texts. The outcomes of the K-2 junior English program are focused on knowledge, skills, understandings, and strategies that children will demonstrate when learning to talk, listen, read, and write (Brain, 2003).

Additionally, they also identify the knowledge and understandings that students will develop when learning about talking listening, reading, and writing. As the students engage with the content of the program, the outcomes are achieved. Since the K-2 junior English program has its focus on learning the English language and understanding it, in the process of learning the language the children will develop the ability to talk, listen, read, view, and write with purpose, effect, and confidence (Dianne,2004).

Additionally, they will develop knowledge and ways in which language varies according to context (eg purpose, audience, the channel of communication, and content among other aspects. Learning English will help the children to develop a sound grasp of English language structures and grammar of Standard Australian English. Moreover, in the process of learning English and teaching, students will be provided with opportunities to develop a broader knowledge of a range of literature including Australian literature (Anyon, 2009).

Rationale Language is significant to various aspects of the students’ including intellectual, social and emotional development. Since each and every subject is taught in English learning English at a junior level is essential when it comes to other key learning areas.
