Teams set very high targets and very high expectations of the members of the team and the team as a whole as this ensures that the motivation amongst the team members is high. Performing teams are oriented in such a way that team members are given roles that match their skills and competencies as this ensures the team can perform well. The leadership of these teams is also important as this also acts as a motivation to the team. Good team leaders lead by example from the front inspiring the team members to perform as well (Lambert, 2005).

People assess the success of teams based on their performance but there is also a need to assess the team members and their roles as these are crucial factors that determine whether a team will perform or fail. Teams’ success depends on the competence of the individual members because every member has a role to play and the successful execution of these roles by the individual members contribute to the success of the team. The Constitution of a team should be on the individual competencies and how every individual contribution adds up to the team’s goals and objectives (Loeser, 2008).

The ability of the leadership of a business to effectively acquire and manage knowledge is important as this enables them to synthesize this knowledge and use it for the betterment of the company. Availability of knowledge without sober leadership hurts the business because the managers of the business fail to convert this knowledge into products, services, and opportunities that may aid the company in achieving its goals and objectives. An excellent relationship between the top leadership and the subordinate is a key ingredient in ensuring that the companies achieve the set-out expectations (Portin, 2004).
