Every instruments applied to evaluate the given behavior objectives is effective. However, there are various limitations experienced when using the assessment instruments. Among the limitations experienced when using the rubrics assessment instrument include the fact that rubrics do not touch on all the dimensions of assessing the work progress of an individual. Rubrics require the incorporation of other types of assessment methods in order to have a balanced form of assessment. Another limitation that is experienced when using rubrics as a mode of assessment is that expectations from the criteria are made public hence it is hard to give an individualized feedback. Creating effective rubrics for assessment is hard and requires a lot of consideration and time (Arter & Mc Tighe 81). The use of short answer question and multiple choices questions as a means of vocational assessment can prove to be limiting. Short answer inquiries encourage memorization of details instead of understanding. It is also unsuitable for evaluating complex information that needs deep analysis. If not properly constructed it can prove to be hard for an individual to come up with the correct answer. Multiple choices inquiries are not effective in evaluating an individual’s ability to display their thoughts or ideas. It does not evaluate an individual’s explanation or performance on a specific task. It is therefore hard to establish the level of understanding of an individual since one picks answers form a given list of choices. The use of essay assessment can as well be limiting since scoring of essays can prove to be hard. Individuals take varying approaches when tackling essays thus it takes time to give the appropriate scores. Essays assessments can prove to be insufficient in evaluating understanding of an exact subject matter since a few items can be included in one essay test while other areas are left uncovered. Individuals tend to focus on a section of knowledge while giving answers and neglecting other sections that could be of great importance. Performance assessment test have several disadvantages when it comes to evaluating certain objectives since there is a lack of standards in which appropriate judgment can be made involving the performance of individuals. Performance assessment also require a high level of expertise since it involve actual performance which could at times be hazardous if the individual being assessed is not well acquainted with the tools that are to be used (Scott 212). Despite the fact that the assessments instruments have various limitations when it comes to assessing different behavior objectives they are as well effective in developing the knowledge and capacity for measuring learning achievements in the given behavior objectives. Rubrics ensure that the expectations for learning are known and accessible to individuals. This in turn motivates learner to meet the standards of each criterion. Rubrics can as well be used to cultivate creativity and critical thinking. Well formulated and constructed rubrics lead to successful assessment of behavior objectives. Short answer questions are genenerally easy to construct and does not require verbal fluency to answer questions hence it measures a wide range of knowledge. It as well reduces guessing thus it is effective in evaluating individual understanding on a particular subject matter. Multiple choice assessments are effective for use in various areas and can be applied to measure a variety of behavior objectives. They can be used to assess both difficult and easy Knowledge levels. It is much easier and less time consuming to respond to multiple choice assessments hence a wide range of information can be assessed. A major advantage of using essay questions as a means of assessing behavior objective is that they can measure abilities that cannot be measured by any other assessment instruments. Examples of abilities that can be measured include the ability to put together and organize information and ability to come up with different approaches of problem solving. Performance assessments are increasingly used due to the fact they show the actual evidence of an individual understanding as far as a particular behavior is concerned. The use of performance assessment leads to a more advanced incorporation of assessment and instruction (McDonald 112). Conclusion Vocational assessment is vital since it exposes the capabilities of individuals and enables the execution of proper guidance. The assessment instruments for each behavior objective are effective though they have various limitations. Proper discretion needs to be conducted when it comes to deciding which assessment instrument can effectively evaluate a certain behavior objective. This assessments help to identify and determine the kind of skill that an individual possess and behavior attributes that can be useful in a work setting (Power 123).
