Child Development XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX Introduction to child development The activities that were recorded from three children Peter, James, and Anderson as they conduct their activities. The three are seen playing. James passes the ball to peter and James, while James is busy taking laps in the field and jogging around. James stops playing and he sits down to interact with other children in the field as he shares with them on a topic of discussion. Peter call on James to join them to continue with the football game he then kicks the ball towards him. Anderson who seems not to be in the mood he joins James in the conversation with the group that they are discussing with. Peter tries hard to bring the team back for a continuation of the game but all in vain. When break time is over the three walk together in one group to class and continue with their conversation on the latest modern technology. The three continue with their discussion in class before the class teacher enters the class for a lesson. Peter, James and Anderson continue conversing in class ignoring the presence of the teacher, the teacher notices them and orders them to be quite. The afternoon class seems to be tiring for peter as he dozes off as the lesson is in progress. Anderson tries to wake peter up as the teacher approaches toward him. The teacher requests peter to run five laps round the field. Peter and James are neighbor and they walk together back home and both wait for each other and sit together at the school bus. They arrive home, all rush to James home to play video games, and both of them are glued to the screen firmly holding the joysticks. Peter unconscious of time rushes home late in the dark and rushes home to complete his class assignments. James loves football and he requests his Father that he interested to watch the European league where he would meet with his other friends. He prepares and when ready to go for the match he is organizes his belongings in a classified manner ready to go and watch the match. He acts quickly and rushes to his father so that they would set foot to the pitch to the foot. Peter curiously ask his father if they would be accompanied by her mum but he ignores the comment. Peter a football fan is dressed in a jersey he supports. James during weekends meets his friends at home for movies and videogames that they keep alive all weekend long. It is this and many more that they try and race with bicycle as they try to compete with some of his friends in the neighborhood. After James is done he hots one of his friends and continues to be violent on his friends that he hurts him. James ids jovial as he treats his friend as if nothing has just happened and this makes the boy to leave and request for medication at home. James continues with cycling he gets involved in use vulgar language. James stops to cycle and engage himself in a conversation with one of his father’s friends. James forgets that he is conversing to a grown up and he uses vulgar language that was disrespectful to the man. He allows children from the nearby slum. James tends to forget that he is living in a real world and not in acting, they engage in games that involve missions of robbing off neighbors carrots at his kitchen garden and innocently think they are just in playing. It is this reason that the neighbor calls his parents to discuss on the issue as he could easily indentify. Anderson tries to construct some of his toys for him to engage himself in serious playing. He not only construct cars he construct fake short guns that he uses to tend to pretend to shoot around just as he watch from the movies. Anderson designs nice and beautiful crafts that they are taught in class. He engages himself with class assignment and other form of revision that are needed in school after he is done he prepares everything ready for school. He welcomes his mum at home and sits next to the mother for a talk on his whereabouts. He explains to his mother of how he performs in class and what he needs for school and back at home. He gives a hand in shores at home he helps the nanny clean the utensil and other shores. After he is done with the shores, he gets prepared to go for a friend’s birthday. Anderson gets ready and prepared to join other children in the occasion. He arrives with a present ready for the birthday to present it to the host of the birthday. Anderson leads the rest of the children in song and dance he plays different instrument by improvising on every kind of toy they would improvise to continue having fun. Peter dramatizes on having a family that is not in existence he involves his friends to join and assigns each a role a father a mother and a daughter. He then pets together his and his friend’s clothes in order to build in a house that they play in. Peter removes a mobile phone from the side of his pocket and receives a call from his parents. Peter leaves his friends and heads back home. On his arrival back home, he sits down beside his father. He is reminded to finish his school assignments and prepare everything needed for school days. Peter rushes to his bedroom and lazily sits on his bed staring at his book and doing nothing. He delays for supper and his dad find him asleep having done no assignment. Peter wakes up and eats hi supper up and head straight to bed for the following days activities. James interacts with his brother in a watching their favorite cartoon Donald duck and they are enjoying the show as James is laughing at the comics presented in the cartoon. James gets to the kitchen for a snack and he gets back to continue enjoying the cartoon show. James shares a photo to Anderson and he chats to him on the time they would arrive at school. Part 2 During the break times children tend to discuss on topics that they come across or discuss on the issue that are evolving examples of them being politics, television shows, and the use of the latest gadgets that have been introduced in the market. Statistics shows that children take less interest on issues that are of important to them. Children take less interest on issues of education as their minds are corrupt on issues that the young and old continuously post on the social media examples on issues on face book, twitter, and other sites that people use for communication purposes. Peter James and John are familiar with the gadgets as they own some of them examples James used to converse with his parents by use of a mobile phone. It has been noted that most young people have followed the trend and use this forums to communicate to one another through a social media that may contained unrated information that may be obscene. Francis was used to log in on the social media that he followed to keep him posted on irrelevant issues to his and this led to poor grades in school.Free time, which includes break times in school, should be a platform where children can shares healthy ideas on how to build ideas that may be important in their lives. The ease of use of the gadgets has allowed the young to share information to friends through the social media (Anning, 2006, 98) Children growing up in poor backgrounds have different way in their way of thinking as they grow up this may be attributed to the fact that what they have is not enough as they try to find for means to survive alike the children brought up in wealthy families as everything is in their disposal and no need to strain. The opportunities in life may be strained and the child brought up in poor backgrounds may be well equipped to tackle the way of living even when the available resources are scarce. Most of the well brought up children may find it difficult and some may maneuver in life due to the availability of money and be able access better facilities that may assist them on their day-to-day lives. This is observed when children like James uses the latest gadgets to acquire obscene data from the internet he may discuss the issue with his friends who may turn to be innocent and get involved in getting the information through peer pressure. Adults should be aware and guide children on important ways of socializing. Peter interacted with the boys from the nearby slum this led him to the stealing of his neighbors carrots at his kitchen garden( Katz,L, 2004, 87) Different age groups of children may have different forms or characteristics after some observation. Children may have different traits .This may include having talents that the other gender may not be portray. (Grieve, 1991, 79) It is evident that children from the feminine side are neat and the masculine may lack the characteristics in some in that it may be in them or is dominant to the female. It would be also evident that in some cases the male may be more in the machine or in the gadgets zone where the male counterparts may be in a position to play and like using of videogames while to females they may be less interested unlike the male. Francis young as he was could and was able to perform acting techniques according to how his young age would allow it is by this perspective that is perceived by the young minds of the child is directly what they conceive. The three Peter, James and Anderson interacted well together as they were of the same age (Anning, 2006, 98) At early age, children in poor family backgrounds find themselves in a position of handling some of the responsibilities they cannot handle this come as the lack of basic need. This may lead to child labor and can cause the child growing while he is withdrawn from his fellow age mates. This being rampant in Africa children in these areas may tend to drop out of school and handle other responsibilities. Children brought up in wealthy families clear school at the right time and recommended time due to the availability of funds. Children from different background have a different way of thinking as they handle details at their own way of understanding. It is evident that children brought up in wealthy families may have best they can to handle an issue with the help of consultation from their parents advisors and legal advisors. (Grieve, 1991, 79) Parents of Francis could be only in a position to sustain the family with the basic needs and reduce on the luxury. This would challenge Anderson as he always worked hard to try and worked to provide himself with what the parents could not afford. Both children might have different thinking and might form groups of people of the same class. This may result to the thinking of a wealthy child to that of the poor is different as the child might be thinking of trips abroad while the child in poor background are all dreams. As the saying goes birds of the same feather flock together is evident while comparing the two. (Anning, 2006, 98)Children in wealthy families are able to interact well with those of their social status. It may evident that children may be well equipped with every equipment needed for study and may also have in excess this may be unlikely to happen to the other extreme where learning equipments might not even be enough this may lead to borrowing and can cause a separation between the two. This was evident as children, like James associate with students from the wealthy class while those who were not in the same position as theirs were secluded in different groups of those who would match up with the lifestyle. (Bloom, 2004, 99) Use of the latest technology may assist in getting first hand information or even capturing history as it happen first hand. The availability of technology using tools for example, laptops, I pads, and mobile phones among many other helps students in doing of research or in studying storage of data and other important data that might need referring to later. It is a chance that every child student should have access. The child that is less privileged might not only have problems acquiring any of the gadgets but using them is a mystery to understand. The use of mobile phone by James an indication of use mobile phones (Bloom, 2004, 99) This may be to the advantage of the wealthy as they can complete on how they perform their class work at their own convenience while the less privileged may delay due to the heavy workload. Information is vital, as Peter did not have the latest of the gadgets while his friend would download the latest books that were required for the m to study continue with the school curriculum smoothly. If children would be exposed to information technology gadgets that allow them to get access to informative information they would be in a position better in the society as they would turn to be innovative and end up in big role in the society. Peter rehabilitation led him to better education university where he graduated and was employed at the Steve jobs as a manger. If children are not condemned, they stand a better chance in the society. Different backgrounds determine greatly how the child is raised or the habits developed. The raising of children around ghettos has higher chances that the child is raised at difficult and harsh conditions that crime is part of such areas. This may influence in that the child might end up in crime related life such as selling of drugs being in position of firearms as such may be acceptable to their backgrounds but is illegal to other backgrounds. The executive homes are mainly located in areas that are quite environment atmosphere that may encourage development of creative thinking. Children brought up from wealthy families may find themselves in position that may assist them to develop talents and explore others better unlike children from the ghetto whose lack not only the facilities but also the peace of mind. It is the environment that depends on the attitude of how the child attains at a certain age other factors that the child acquires through life determines how best the child grows. According to the observation made it is evident that James who grew up as an innocent boy ended up involving in some undesirable characteristics. (Blakemore, 1991, 57) Leisure time is important for healthy growing and development not only for human beings but also for the development of children. Leisure time they enjoy as well learning can take place in some activities of leisure. Watching of Television series and movies can be helpful to the child as he takes part in watching television series as ideas of life may be passed to the child some of this chances are well considered as luxury to people who have no means to acquire either of the machines. It is evident that use of leisure time effectively ends in children involving in good a character that not only keeps them away from trouble but boost their way growth of children grades and other relevant activities. (Grieve, 1991, 79) Both the doing well families and the poor the acquiring of knowledge is equal irrespective of the social backgrounds. Other characteristics that life balance is the acquiring of responsibilities as the chances are equal and are for everyone. Responsibility in some of the children may be noted in children who are used to struggle when they are young while children raised from wealthy families find it hard to attend to simple responsibilities, which might be required to be done as employees who attend to them every day of their life do everything to them. Francis according to many who knew him quoted him as responsible and hardworking irrespective of the setbacks that everyone faces in life. (Woodhead, 1991, 78) The observations that gave credited by almost everyone who knew since his childhood times commented on the same as the others story. It is a true example of taking advantage of chances that one take as he grows up. Some characteristics and diseases usually are found in the wealthy class children this include obesity due to feeding of junk food and are rare in the less priviledge. Children who have everything at their disposal find it difficult to exercise and disease related to diet may affect their lives. The less privileged find it hard for them to have enough of their daily ration and balanced food, due to lack of balanced food malnutrition disease mostly are related to the rise of poverty. Children being raised all have time and chance to make better and wise decision in order to secure a better future. This is a challenge that is usually observed in most children that due to lack of proper feeding habits and monitoring that children always have themselves eating all time they are in the position to have a meal. Sons and daughter of the wealthy find themselves idle most of the times as they have a servant who does everything for them and cannot work on simple responsibilities. This was noted the group that were James of James as they could not handle simple responsibilities such as doing laundry and other smaller responsibilities. (Woodhead, 1991, 78) Mentorship that may assist the child to acquire skills and knowledge from his mentors or seniors would be appropriate as the child may express their wants and needs in ways that respect the rights and safety of other individuals. They may interact positively to individual and groups that they are close together. The mentor, parents or guardian may recognize the consequences of the behavior of the child. Parents who are always concerned with the whereabouts of their children never go wrong in mentoring and directing them whenever they go wrong. It is this and other reasons that rising of a child becomes less complicated. Initially if both James and Francis were monitored since day one, there would be fewer problems in school and with the nanny. (Blakore, 2005, 99) Interaction at the family level may be complicated at the well doing family as the parents are busy all day long busy with family business. If the other siblings go to work, they spend less time with their younger siblings. This may cause sibling rivalry, as the children might not understand each of their siblings likes and dislikes. Due to unemployment, children in poor families are more close to each other and understand each other well as they are together most of the time. The relationship between the parent and child is vital and issues especially at adolescent are well tackled by their parents. Parents who take ample time with their children are aware of their behaviors and are ready in case of any form of irresponsibility or vice versa. References Anning, A 2006.
