Part 1: Personal Statement
Transforming a learner through response and adaptability to conditions set forth in the education process is a delightful and satisfying experience. It rewards psychologically when an individual contribute to some of the positive change through structured inputs as well as being a witness to the transformation itself. I desire to play a role as an educational practitioner thereby witnessing the transformation that learners undergo through the consumption of the knowledge provided. It is my utmost desire to engage different inputs in the process of learning by integrating the professional learning model that is efficacious enough not only to produce students who can pass their assessments and examinations, but also competent enough to elbow others in the professional field.
As a practitioner, I recognize education as a basic right to children. I revere the process as one mandated to inculcate socially acceptable culture and morals in children as they grow to become senior professional and citizens of their respective countries regards of their countries of origin. Information is power, and it is a fundamental right to a child. Education process should not only avail the information but also reinforce it with strategies, tools, knowledge, and motivational factors that build children into life-long learners.
The education process and professional ideals often evaluate an individual under the existence differences in individuals, in every learning aspect and conference. It is my responsibility, being a reflective practitioner, to establish a concise understanding of different dispositions and attributes that different children hold in the learning environments and classrooms. Education needs to satisfy the needs of diversity, which is necessary to be acknowledged in order to structure pertinent response to the specific needs of a special group. Undertaking relevant conferences with the children provide the opportunity to understand them on an individual basis. The professional model of learning will help me to recognize the essence of professional workshops and participation in beyond classroom activities. As a reflective practitioner, I understand that the process of education entails a lot especially in providing knowledge and molding children to benefit from the process. Therefore, I presume it a challenge to examine and evaluate my methods of teaching in order to meet the expected standards in catering for the learning needs of the children.
Appropriate instructional instruments are required to compliment the cycle of communication in providing information and encouraging a learner-centered approach in the education process. Children must be intricately associated with their environment of learning. They should be allowed to explore the surroundings and the milieu that builds a community of learning and an environment of learning. Moreover, they should be provided with positive feedback that praises their efforts in order to reinforce their learning potentials positively. As a practitioner, I project my teaching goals to create a simulative environment for learning that is not only based on theories of application but also learning through practice to make learning more realistic and applicable in the real life situation. It is also my wish to promote children independence in learning through self-directed plays and exploration.
Part 2: Access Initiative
Life in a very different and environment is not an easy way to go. It needs courage, dedication, and patience. Moving from India to Toronto Canada at age 13 was not only an exhilarating experience but also a challenging one. Moving from a village to a city especially in a different country, where lifestyle and mode of communication was entirely different, I had to adapt to new living standards and lifestyle that was quite diverse than what I was used live. It was difficult to acquire and be able to express myself in a new language; however, I knew that time was only the factor. Mastering new language at my age was never going to a difficult task since I readily interacted with children of my age. These interactions exposed this new culture and language was the first thing I learnt out of it. Despite the positive attitude I had, my parents were financially unable to pay for my enrolment at an English medium class, which could have boosted my language mastery. To break all hurdles I had to invest a lot of my energy and dedication to intense learning of English language have made to express myself eloquently.
Additionally, I embraced accessibility to education as the only ladder that could bridge the gaping disparities that existed between me and other Canadian children. In fact, hard work and determination have been my utmost tools in accomplishing my goals and desires. I have been able to learn more English and can eloquently express myself in both paper and speech. I also believe that if my entrance to the college is guaranteed, I will most solemnly replicate my previous efforts to maximize my time in the learning process in order to graduate a competent and resourceful practitioner.
Part 3: Experience Profile
I have had the privilege to interact with a number of learners both educationally and socially. This has enabled me to understand their concerns and the plight in as far as their education and life in Canada are concerned. Initially, I have worked with ESL student or new comers to Canada in their after school program. During this period, I had personal sessions with some of them towards assisting them handle their homework by providing assistances where necessary. Just like me, they had to experience the different lifestyle in Canada as they try to make transitions from their homelands to be accommodated to the new environment. In addition, I helped them, in this regard, to navigate the extensive Toronto Transit Transportation. Their new environment always posed challenges for them as new immigrants.
I have obligated myself to help them understand their daily life in Toronto and how to overcome the challenges in order to minimize environmentally related stress. Through this interaction with new immigrant students, I have gained substantial experience in dealing with the concerns of learners, not only within the confines of the classrooms but also in out of class situations. Furthermore, I have been capable of learning how to integrate the social, environmental, and educational needs in relating to the concerns of learners with a view to improve chances of benefitting more from the education process. I have gained extensive understanding of how to motivate students or learners so that they do not regard education process as a form of their confinement, but as an integral institution relevant for the transformation of their lives. These experiences among other are the tools that make me realize that I am a vital resource to the community and its constituents.
