Introduction Education attainment in college has profound effects on the future of individuals, making it the principal determinant in the opportunities that one anticipates. Educational attainment has been cited as the most efficient way of advancing the economic opportunities, while still decreasing inequalities that exist within the U.S. Educational attainment has the capacity to advance the skills of the employees within the American markets thus improving the overall performance. Educational attainments and values are considered the outcomes of being a college graduate although other factors matter with regard to future of the talented persons. Athletics, which is a significant undertaking in college, has a profound influence on the future outcomes of various college students. Athletics has served as the opener for certain students towards their future goals although it substantially undermines the educational attainment of most athletic students. The college offers different outcomes for different students with some students gaining educational attainment and values while other the same but with an added advantage of athletic prominence. Over some time, there has been skills deceleration within the American context, owing to reduced educational accomplishment. The solution that has been recommended is elaborate education for more people within the society, thus improving their educational attainment (Bowen & Chingos, 2009). Educational attainment has been considered the most efficient way of improving the conditions that the country has faced for quite some period. Students’ attendance to college seeks to present positive outcomes, which are education achievements and educational values. The functional areas have recently been included as a positive outcome that most students are seeking through joining college. Although, the functional area, which is athletics compromises the educational achievements of students it has proved quite influential in the labor markets for students bearing the educational achievements and values. According to various surveys, conducted educational attainments have been substantially improved by various methods. Deep learning has been highlighted as a technique that has considerable influence of students’ performances that lead to better and positive educational outcomes (Lipka, 2007). The survey has been conducted through various ways such as study abroad, involvement in research together with faculty associate, involvement in crucial projects, as well as engaging in two or more courses that center on a certain subject (Lipka, 2007). These undertakings have substantially enabled individuals to advance educationally through attainment of skills and values that are required to assist in the economic progression of America. However, the survey bears no concentration on the functional areas, which have also proved effective in acquisition of skills and values that assist these individuals in their future existence within the populace. As students progress in education into college, their perspective considerably, transform owing to the actuality that they commence concentrating on their careers. These students become additionally mature, well informed and focused as per their prospect to their careers (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005). Similarly, senior students in the college develop a specific perspective concerning the labor markets practicalities, in addition, to extensive workplace readiness compared to the junior students with diminutive exposures to post secondary edification. In view of the employers, college imparts various outcomes that add to the lives of students. In college, students are well equipped in educational and content areas, although the educational system fails to include various components that matter a lot in the work environment (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005). The areas in which the system fails to incorporate are work content and students’ abilities to apply the academic content in the work surroundings. Therefore, educational attainments are deficient of some essential components that are exceedingly valued in a working environment. Functional areas such as athletics assist in imparting some of these concepts and values to students involved in these activities. Attainment of a bachelor degree has enormous benefits compared to persons with diploma within an occupational area. The status of a person with a degree is elevated at an occupational level. This implies that engagement in post secondary edification augments workforce involvement. Consequently, the probability of a person being unemployed is considerably decreased via extensive educational attainment, which is achieved through higher education (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005). However, this cannot be considered consistent since other factors may affect these results. In most cases, individuals engaged in athletics lose considerable concentration on the educational attainment meaning that they attain average or poor results that comprise their future continuation in the academic area (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005). This suggests that their workforce participation decreases as per the results presented in the study. However, this may not be always the case since the athlete records boosts their educational attainment and can be considered equals to individuals with higher education than them. Even though, college academic attainments for students involved in athletics is has sparkled weighty concerns, miniature research has been undertaken to develop a relationship between involvement in sports at the college level and the academic attainments. However, upon undertaking research for more than 2,000 students over a period greater than ten years presented results that, athletes are minimally ready to undergo through college (Kissinger & Miller, 2009). Additionally, the results suggested that these students have lower educational attainment compared to the rest of the student populace. The performance of athlete students differed amongst different individuals. Students holding scholarships students involved in sports that presented enormous revenues and African American students involved in football and basketball presented the most deficient results and educational potential ((Hartmann, 2008)). Nevertheless, these students continue with their studies despite these deprived performances, indicating academic comprises that exist for the benefits experienced in intercollegiate athletics. The academic comprises revealed as per the research are doctored transcripts, gaining credit for undeserved courses and financial exploitations of these students. These unethical undertakings compromise the educational values and attainments for these individuals creating incongruous experiences for students with no such abilities. Athletes receive poor quality edification, as presented by journalists and former athletes. The evidences contradict coaches’ and college administrations’ statements concerning the comments that the athletes students are a scholar in the first place while sports take the second position. However, the primary goal of the coaches and managements involved is to ensure that their athlete students remain eligible, notwithstanding the situations that exist. These practices demonstrate the corruption that exists over the academic attainments of athlete students. This is evident in colleges with principal sporting programs. In order to reduce these practices, NCAA has concentrated on eliminating such problems through investigations on athletes. Financial environment that is open through intercollegiate sport agendas has worsened the situation of cheating to ensure eligibility for athlete students, give the numerous benefits that athletes receive from undertaking in the sporting events. Consequently, the society has generated an academic tight spot regarding the position and objective of sporting or athletics within the academic area. This dilemma can be ascribed to the combination of monetary matters with the academic or educational matters. Currently, communities have contemplated on reducing finances to college athletic programs, owing to poor educational attainment and academic potentials of athlete students. However, this has faced deadlock, since a majority of the populace assert that athletics is a fundamental component of the learning experience. Despite the poor educational achievements for athlete students, research has indicated that student involved in athletics at college levels get higher wages than the individuals who never undertook any sporting activities. Therefore, it can be substantiated that athletic participation is an imperative consideration, in the learning process of students. According to National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY), individuals who participated in athletics received higher wages compared to the group that never participated in athletics. Similar results were experienced after a survey conducted by NLS-72, indicating the consistency of the obtained results. According to the presented survey results, persons with high abilities undertake in athletics because they have little leisure preferences. Therefore, athletic participation can be regarded as a stimulant of elevated capabilities even in work environments. Additionally, athletic participation is considered to have influence on work ethics and hard work for individuals with athlete abilities. Hence, athlete students possessing elevated academic achievements have the highest likelihood of gaining excellent labor outcomes than individuals who never participate in athletics. Connecting the academic achievements with the athletic participation presents persons with intrinsic capabilities thus proving imperative within the working environment than nonparticipant. The outcomes for the athlete students are considerably reduced once the controls of ability are prefaced into the research results. Hence, the presence of different personal abilities has a profound influence on the upshots that are educational and labor market results. Individuals involved in athletics demonstrate work efficiency, as substantiated by their wages that emanate from excellent job performances (Hartmann, 2008). This indicates that athlete students show excellent abilities even in the work environment due to their overall capabilities and hard work. Although athlete students are considered to have poor academic potentials, they have proved imperative in the work environment since they demonstrate similar drives in these environments allowing them to exhibited excellent job performances. In the absence of athletics, these students can be equally proficient in their academic attainments. The quantity of time utilized in training is the aspect that affects their performances. In view of their job performances, academic attainments can be achieved in a similar manner. These students forego their studies because they are assured of exceptional performances through coach and administration involvement, making them reluctant concerning their educational achievements. Conclusion Educational attainment of athlete students has not been promising for the majority of these students although in some way, they still become successful in life. Academic compromises to keep these students legible play the greater part in making their performance better. The college systems, which exploit these students considers them in their academic attainments. Some are awarded undeserved credit from their college administration, as a prize for undertaking extensively in athletic activities for that college. However, further studies have revealed that these students have excellent performance in work environments. They are preferred by employers since employers believe that these individuals have the capabilities and drive to maintain high work ethics and hard work. Therefore, athlete students cannot be considered failures instead; they are considered the most successful lot as per the researches that have been undertaken. Academic attainments of athlete students are principally compromised by their connection with monetary benefits that they obtain. References Hartmann, D. (2008).
