Morgan Stanley Investment Management is a service provided to the clients about long-term investments. It is considered to be one of the best investment management services provided to a variety of clients. The diversified client base of MSIM includes individuals, and incorporations, private firms and institutions. It also provides services to the governments, which is an indicator of the extent of the success of this program. I have been involved in decision making regarding financing and investments for the past couple of years and through the right sources and right people I have been able to come to the conclusion that this program will be a stepping stone in my career. The MISM program at Boston University offers a much deeper and analytical approach to the field of investment management compared to other business related programs, which is exactly why I have chosen this specific field for the advancement and further progression of my career. This particular field attracts me because of the opportunities and benefits it offers, but it is also appealing because of the salary structures of a MSIM graduate. The salary structure of a MISM graduate is extraordinarily high which attracts a lot of skillful and ambitious people. To be able to complete this course from a University of Boston University’s caliber would be of the highest honor to me. It has always been my dream to be able to study this program from this University since it offers almost everything that I need to become professionally qualified, and to pursue my ambitions and aims easily. The program at Boston University trains the students in leading edge theory and practice in the field of investment. My expectations are very high because apart from my own knowledge of this course in the university I have always heard words of praise from anyone talking about this particular subject. Marketing of investment products and expertise in design and management are some areas that students eventually gain expertise in. The faculty of the university is another reason for my high anticipation to get through with the course from this particular university. There are no words to describe the sea of knowledgeable and highly qualified faculty members this course provides us with. To study under some of the most brilliant business minded teachers would be highly useful for me and all other students likewise. Moshe Hagigi, Ted Chadwic and François Gadenne are some examples of those highly successful and exceptionally brilliant faculty members under whom I intend to study to gain as much experience as possible from these faculty members. I plan to hone and prepare myself to take full advantage of this course, to make use of it in practical life and help people in decision making. The new technologies and the vast research work of this university will allow me to gain immeasurable amount of knowledge which will give me an edge over other university graduates. Since there is a lot of competition out there in every field, and in this field particularly, I will surely be reaping the rewards of graduating from the Boston University. It is very difficult to deal with problem sometimes during work, but possessing some analytical skills comes in handy. But I do need to polish my skills so that my performance indicator can go up. Market valuation is one such problem that I had had to deal with in the past a couple of times. I had failed myself one time, but I was able to handle the pressure well. I was able critically analyze the situation and make important decisions but I still feel the need to increase my problem solving and analytical skills. 3. Describe an investment mistake you have made, what the impact was, and what you learned from the experience. This can be any type of financial investment. I made a huge mistake once which caused me a lot of confidence. I have always been confidence of my investing skills and my decision making. But one particular investor came to me with high expectations, and I let him down. I invested his money in a particular Asset firm and had made the mistake of thinking that its shares would go up by a large margin. I had inaccurately decided in the company’s favor and this has been a lesson I have learnt from the experience. The investment was very high and the returns were expected to be even higher. The investor himself was very pleased with my skills and satisfied with how I handled things at the start. But everything went futile, when in a month’s time the company’s shares dropped by a huge margin. It left me disconcerted with myself and I lost a lot of confidence. The investor wasn’t very pleased either since he had placed a lot of confidence in me. I learnt a lesson from this particular experience and have decided never to make decisions without proper research and in depth analysis. Thus I have very high expectations from this program and the university itself. I expect to gain a lot of credibility from this course which be beneficial in the sense that I would face any difficulties in getting a high position at a very large investment firm, and also never to make decisions that would be regretful to me and to the people who hold my trust. As already mentioned above, gaining the knowledge and experience from the faculty members would be of the highest honor to me and would be beneficial to me for a long time. I also hope to meet new people who work on the same field as I so that I can learn from others and also diversify my research work with other brilliant minds. I’m sure that once I’m through with this program a very large firm, be it an investment firm, a private firm or an insurance firm, will not glitch to make a part of their company. And I intend to be one of the best among the people who graduate from the University and compete with integrity. This degree will provide me the tools for the advancement in this field. Since I have already been working in this field, this degree will take me a step further towards being better and to gain position of higher value.
