Ethics in Education on Interviews with Women and Children - Research Paper Example

The present research has identified that inequality in society can be expressed in various forms of communalism including sexism, ageism, racism, and classism. These forms of communalism appear in the wider society and educational theory and research. Educational research has seen significant changes in recent years globally. Research is conducted in accordance with the code of ethics stipulated by the American Education Research Association (AERA) in the United States and The Canadian Code of Ethics.

The opinions and views of the disadvantaged members of society (women) in educational research have not been given the attention they deserve in society. Participants of research should be protected and the findings used in effecting positive reforms. They are considered disadvantaged and vulnerable and may be manipulated by the educational researchers to give false information by use of coercion, deception or manipulation due to power and need between the researcher and participants during interviews.

However, the relationship during interviews should be governed by the research ethics to protect both parties. In the contemporary world, the relationship between research and ethics is one of the dominant problems faced by educational researchers. The need for ethical responsibility and accountability in research has become crucial, as instances to the contrary have resulted into harm of the participants and infringement of the people being interviewed.
