Through a few coaching sessions, I understood that she had lost interest because of the traditional system of learning. With this realization, and to generate her interest in learning, I used creative approaches and engaging activities in my coaching sessions. By the end of the year, there were tremendous improvements in her academics and a boost in her self-esteem.I volunteered for the American Red Cross in 1992. I was involved in instructing and educating potential blood donors about the donating procedures and formalities.

I enjoyed working with and being exposed to people from diverse communal backgrounds. However, it was my Spanish linguistic abilities that enabled me to really help people and be in their circle. I realized the importance of interpersonal skills and my belief that healthcare should have humanistic considerations was further reaffirmed.Over the years, I have been involved in a great deal of tutoring through various organizations like Tutor Experts, The Center for Science Excellence, and Making Changes Freedom School.

These experiences have exposed me to the similarities and differences among many diverse cultural groups and geographical areas, besides enriching my personal skills to deal with diverse ethnic groups.I have received an enhanced understanding of communal diversity and the power it possesses. I believe that diversity has a great strength and can play a big role in fostering greater unity.
