One of the motivations was the fact that the quality of education in the U.S is excellent compared to Mexico. The seriousness and resources committed to education in the U.S is quite commendable, and this was a major motivation to pursue education in the America. When I came to the U.S, my mastery of the English language was below average. One of the conditions was to have an excellent command of the English language, and this prompted me to join the English Institute to learn the language. I had to learn, and that was quite understandable because most of the lessons are taught in English.

In the event, that a student has a poor understanding of the language, failure in the class is the resultant factor, and so I had to learn the English language. There were a number of challenges experienced while learning the language. Communication was a problem because I did not understand some of the English vocabularies effectively affecting my level of comprehension. Coping with the class was a problem in the initial stages. I would say the learning process was successful and quite satisfactory.

The teachers understood that I was an immigrant and gave me more attention, and this was an added advantage in so far as learning is concerned. I am by nature a reserved person and socializing with people is a problem sometimes. However, I had to learn to mingle with the rest of the students. Interacting with other students made the learning process relatively easy because I learned some of the things from them. There are a number of difficulties and challenges because one has to learn English as a prerequisite for admission.

Moreover, some teachers do not recognize the immigrants as special groups effectively making learning a struggle to some extent. Americans have an excellent reading culture and so many times you find them reading either an inspirational book or story
