Globalization and education By of the of the School The concept of globalization seems to attract mixed reactions across the world. Scholars have undertaken critical analysis of the world socio-economic and political situation in regard to globalization and proposed immediate rethink. In the text under question, Stiglitz emphasizes the critical aspects of globalization that raise concern among countries (Joseph, 2006, pg.26-8). Globalization was seen as the new savior of the world in terms of the wide economic gap between developed and developing nations.

However, after some time of its diffusion across the world, many developing countries now realize how it is an absolute capitalism tool that worsens the level of poverty and works to serve the interest of developed nations. Most multinationals exploit the resources and cheap labor in developing nations under the guise of open economy while repatriating huge profits to the developed nations. It has also been note that corporate malpractices extend to infringe the traditional set up of many communities in developing nations.

This has seen western influence overtake sovereignty of the developing countries with significant retrogressive socio-economic and political reforms. Friedman emphasizes that globalization has boosted the exchange of ideas in various disciplines hence improved the welfare of the society (Friedman, 2008, pg.15). By using the term flat to symbolize the socio-economic and political convergence that the world is headed towards through globalization, Friedman asserts the increasing influence of the phenomena.

Technological transfer, knowledge sharing among other gains accrues from globalization hence its increasing significance as far as social integration among communities is concerned as witnessed in the social media. It can be concluded that the two authors offer either sides of globalization in restructuring the contemporary world. This is a reflection of the divided opinion in regard to globalization with significant weight towards its effect in widening the economic gaps between developed and developing nations.
