Globalization Oman (1996) defined globalization as the accelerated growth witnessed in the political, economical and social frontsacross both national and regional boundaries. Economically, globalization results in an increase in the exchange of intangible and tangible services and goods; whereby, governments lower impediments such as taxes levies to other countries. On the social front, globalization integrates citizens from different countries in spite of physical or geographical and language barriers easing individuals’ interaction process.

Finally, globalization influences governments to institute legislation that encourages interdependency of nations; for example, laws governing immigration are constantly changing easing immigrants’ integration into new countries. Discussed below are two perspectives of globalization’s impact on education (Singh, 2004).Globalization functions to enhance the spread of education by overcoming barriers such as language and physical barriers. Currently, students have the option of e-learning; whereby, classes and regular assessments occur on a virtual realm.

Meaning, learning occurs in spite of students residing in different countries or continents from their teachers. Continuous innovation in technology plays a crucial role in enhancing education globally.Globalization advocates for the recognition of diversity in different education institutions. Governments aware of the benefits resulting from embracing the phenomenon of globalization work towards aligning their policies to meet globally accepted ones that recognize cultural and linguistic diversity.

Governments ensure legislation governing education protect the diversity of the country’s population. For example, the No Child Left behind Act instituted in 2002 sought to ensure recognition of the unique needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students.In conclusion, globalization impacts all facets of society including the education sector. It is because of globalization that education institutions recognize the concept of diversity and the need to reach out to students in far away geographical zones.
