Running Head: Article Analysis & Comparison Article Analysis & Comparison [Institute’s Article Analysis & Comparison The reading required for this assignment consisted of two articles that dealt with plagiarism. More specifically, they focused on the recognition, detection, and prevention of plagiarism in different age groups/study levels. While the articles were similar in terms of the topic they were dealing with, there were stark differences in the structure and levels of analysis in the two.

Article 1 featured a more technical approach of analysis, starting by giving a comprehensive overview of plagiarism, and introducing the reader to it. It mentioned the prevalence thereof, and cited several possible reasons for its practice in schools and universities whereas Article 2 jumped right to the study, which consisted of several phases consisting of recognizing the problem and coming up with strategies without giving an overview of the problem at hand (that is plagiarism.) Furthermore, Article 1 consisted of a more mathematical study based on polls, statistics, collection, and plotting of data whereas Article 2 comprised mainly of qualitative data as oral interviews and no quantitative analysis.

The analysis in Article 1 was also more astute since different experimental groups were tested whereas in Article 2 a smaller, non-uniform sample was selected for study. Moreover, the analysis in Article 1 was followed by a thorough evaluation of the limitations of the experiment, something that was lacking in Article 2. Overall, the difference in the two articles was that the authors of Article 1 went about the matter in a comprehensive matter, whereas those of Article 2 did it in a less systematic format.

Article 1 contained tables giving comparative analysis of the different experiments, whereas Article 2 provided the information in paragraphs and, at times, bullet points. The referencing in Article 1 was APA with in-text citation, the referencing in Article 2 was only APA with regards to the bibliography at the back, and there was little in-text citation coherent with the APA referencing style.
