When a fact or aspect of knowledge is considered to be commonly known it is not required that a person document the proof such a fact (Perrin, 2009). The correlation between smoking and lung cancer, for example, is so widely known that one would not need to cite any reference in order to demonstrate proof of such a relationship. This is beneficial to the writer in that it allows them to include commonly known information into a paper without having to identify the proof for any, and all, facts that are included in that paper.
The serial comma is a comma that is used when three or more items are listed, and is located at the end of the series of commas (Becker, 2011). This is helpful for the writer as it can be used to clarify potentially confusing lists of names. Furthermore, it allows the writer to include longer lists of information without creating ambiguity in their writing style.
Finally, the APA has released a new way to identify online sources which is called a Digital Object Identifier or DOI (Lewis, 2008). This DOI allows writers to have continued access to a file once it has been found as this number is permanently attached to this article by an approved agency. This process is helpful in that is negates the need for a URL and retrieval date when citing online sources. Read More

...Burrhus Frederic Skinner in APA Style Burrhus Frederic Skinner (B.F. Skinner) is one of the most recognized personalities in the field of behavioral psychology or behaviorism. Compared to other areas in psychology, behaviorism has been formulated under four assumptions: the proper concern of psychological science should be the study of observable behavior and responses; people are born as blank slates and whatever they learn to do depends on their interactions and experiences with the environment; behavior that is followed by satisfying consequences will be more likely to be repeated and behavior that is followed by unsatisfying consequences will be less likely to be repeated; and changes in behavior and learning can occur automatically...

The APA Style

...APA and Scholarly Research In doing a scholarly research work, it is very important to cite or make reference the sources being used. The reason whythis is done is to avoid the issue of plagiarism. A scholarly research work that is marked with plagiarism would be considered lacking of credibility. In any setting, whether professional or academic, having a negative credibility due to plagiarism would leave a tainted mark in a researcher’s reputation and in the record. Among the different styles of research citation, APA would be considered the most efficient to use in doing any scholarly research work. While there are other research citation styles used for academic research work, not all of these styles are versatile or efficient. MLA...

Beowulf: The Poem, Its Background and Its Style

Despite its age and seeming isolation, the Beowulf poet seems to have been familiar with the Christian religion and its symbols. Perhaps because it was written down by scribes, who were most likely associated with the church, it gained its Christian concepts or perhaps these symbols from the Old Testament were present in the poem beforehand. An examination of the Christian overtones and fundamental principles of the story reveals that the Old Heroic Code actually had much in common with the Christian ideals and provides a context by which the modern world can begin to see how the Christian religion incorporated itself into ancient English society. The behavior of characters in an epic such as Beowulf typically makes a clear distin...

The Best Leadership Style

The leadership styles are autocratic, where the leader makes the decision and communicates it to subordinates to be carried out; democratic, where he involves subordinates in the decision making; and free-rein where he leaves most of the decision making to subordinates. The allure from this standpoint is seen by the author. This report measures mainly the methodology that Hodkinson uses, which is grounded theory research, and the report also examines questions of fixed vs. flexible research. The findings of the research are briefly presented before the current research investigation concludes.

The Goth subculture is founded on principles of viewing some of what society outside this subculture, or mainstream culture, views as abhorrent or negative. There is some fetish tendency in this subculture towards the macabre and death, with face-paint style makeup and mourning clothing being prominent features of belongingness, which are certainly not reflective of mainstream fashion and makeup....

Video Games: Game Style, Aesthetics, and Gameplay

Civilization IV, a turn-based strategy game, and Tomb Raider, an adventure game, are examples of two games that exhibit different approaches to the style. Each of these two games will be explored in turn. Both games are rich in 3d graphics. On the other hand, a notable contrast between the two is that whereas in Civilization, there is flexibility in perspectives, Tomb Raider is more restrictive by making the player assume a fixed perspective (Dobrin, 2009).

In Civilization IV, animation and game aesthetics play an important role and have been given detailed attention. For example, interactions between units, especially during conflict, are animated, and the styles of buildings change in accordance with the civilization...
