1. Verbal languages for the real communication: Language is the means by which human beings exchange ideas with one another. “Language is the development of the basic form of communication between human beings, and in a society. And just as it is the basic form, it is also the most developed. We cannot communicate in any real sense without language, other than through gestures.” (Ghose, 2004, para.1). Language is composed of significant sounds and the symbols. All the languages are meant for the communication among people. The skill to make use of verbal communication is the exclusive gift of humans in general and it is not particular to a group or race or society. Languages are made by the people all over the world and all kinds of humans can practice the use of language to speak. It is a channel to the public truth, serving the citizens to study the actions in their region and to sort out their feelings. It also brings about harmony inhuman lives. Generally, a speaker can make up a range of verbal terms and expressions that are entirely understandable by the speakers of language. 2. Verbal languages are unique to the human race: The people from different cultures use different styles of language and it will be different from person to person and also to the country and cultures. Such styles will be a sign of the cultural values of the people or the country. English is spoken by majority of people all over the world. But there are different varieties of English across the world. People use different form of accents according to the geographical structure of that place. There are dialects in many countries which are the language varieties used by people. Normally these are not formally correct language, but all of these are meant for communication and people use these dialects or other forms of slang’s which can be understood by other people. Thus, language, through informal, can be used for communication. “Speakers of a particular dialect often believe their language variety is the best, correct, and standard way to speak. They may even believe that their language variety is so standard that it is not even considered a dialect.” (Chapter 7). 3. Nonverbal communications evolved from the human cultures itself: Verbal languages are developed from a diverse form of non-linguistic interactions which were primarily derived from animal ancestors. This diversity of non-linguistic action to converse with one another are formulated through the actions, touching, odor, and substantial looks. These non vocal interactions, when shared with the spoken form of communication scheme, make the platform for interaction through which human beings come to be familiar with and know each other. “Non-verbal communication includes facial expressions, eye contact, tone of voice, body posture and motions, and positioning within groups. It may also include the way we wear our clothes or the silence we keep. In person-to-person communications our messages are sent on two levels simultaneously. If the nonverbal cues and the spoken message are incongruous, the flow of communication is hindered.” (Non-verbal communication, n.d, para.4). These non spoken contacts are inborn and cultured. Many of the insensible behaviors of the person, such as the terms of feelings are common. People from different backgrounds express their emotions like irritation, pleasure and unhappiness in their own unique ways. However, there may not be any significant differences in that. Also, other forms of nonverbal communications are also unique demonstration of the culture’s characteristics traits. Human beings from all over the world have been taught to be in touch through a variety of movements, through the use of space, by touching, smells and through the style of dressing or the presentations. 4. Nonverbal communications and the cultural variability will make the distinctions in different people: The various dimensions of the cultural differences include the individualism and collectivism, power distance and high-low contexts which will shows the differences in the various cultures. The individualistic behaviors will benefits the individuals and the individual goal is more important. The collectivism will be for the benefit of the group. The individualism is more nonverbally associated bringing the people closer than other culture. Power distance also accounts for the cultural differences as the less power people will be more dependent on the more powerful people. The people from low context will be different from the high-context people as they would not focus much on the social context and are open nature. The violations of these nonverbal communications make a positive and negative impact on the other person we communicate. “Violations initiated by highly attractive sources may be evaluated positively, whereas those initiated by unattractive sources may be evaluated negatively. The very same violation may produce very different evaluations depending on who committed it.” (Chapter 8). 1) The culture of Saudi Arabia will be quite different and vague for a person who understands the culture and the traditions for the first time. The culture of Saudi Arabia gives much emphasis on the aspects of fate and belief. They belive that humans do not have any control on their lives and all happenings are the results of fate. The many events in this world, they see as occurrences as the result of various super natural powers which are uncontrollable and not within the reach of humans. They consider that human life is much fatalistic and they have become the masters by analyzing various kinds of natural happenings, and they attach much importance to nature. The Saudi people believe more in ‘doing’ than in ‘being’, and they focus on actions than on words. According to their philosophy the person who has done a crime has to be dealt by the same crime. “Adler defines, being oriented as a condition in which people, events and ideas flow spontaneously within the movement.The future is not nearly as important as the past and the present, present gratification is not delayed for future gain.” (Slide 163) 2) Verbal and non verbal cultures in Saudi culture differ from their of other cultures. Other cultures give much importance to communication and they use verbal and non verbal communications according to various situations which mainly emphasis the decision making processes. Saudi culture mainly focus on belief, and the inhabitants feel much secured in traditions and they consider their language as superior to the rest in the world. “The structure of the language encourages repetition and exaggeration, but thoughts themselves, are often vague, and sometimes only general meanings are inferred. The language overemphasizes the significance of words in themselves and underemphasizes their meaning, this unbound meaning has far reaching effects.” (Slide 161, attachment) 3) It sounds to be interesting because of the keen dependence on the culture, fate and the belief. As an overall analysis of the other countries’ rules and the policies, it is understood that they are depended on the political, economic and democratic following within the country. Apart from this they give least importance to culture and traditions and or the concept of fate. So, they consider the dependence on supernaturalism very interesting and exotic. Paper4: 1) The reading on France gives much importance to organizational communication. France is a country which attaches much importance to the growth of organizations and industries within the country, so the major importance is on the excellent communication and this, they expect to bring success in their organization. “France has been home to many world-famous artists. In the last half of the nineteenth century, one group of artists, known as the Impressionists, created an impression of scene using quick dabs and strokes of color to capture their subject in the changing sunlight.” (French culture, communication and gestures, n.d, para.3). 2) Culture is the certain norms that are practiced by any group of people living in a county on certain set of policy and rules that are designed as the result of brainstorming by the constitutional leaders of the country. “Culture is shared, by which we mean that every culture is shared by a group of people. Depending on the region they live in, the climatic conditions they thrive in and their historical heritage, they form a set of values and beliefs. This set of their principles of life shapes their culture.” (Oak, 2010, para.2). Culture varies from country to country. So far Saudi Arabians are concerned, they have strict rules which depend on principles from the verses of Quran and mythological beliefs. On the other hand, Asian countries depend on democratic rules and industrialist countries depend on organizational culture and rules that can contribute for the success of the organization.
