Business Administration at Oglethorpe University - Admission/Application Essay Example

Spending many years in business environment I have a burning desire to plunge myself into a study of Business Administration at Oglethorpe One may wonder why. Why do I need to start education when my career is developing and when I am happy with my professional achievements? The answer is quite simple. Since the start of my career I have been concentrated on financial issues. When I started in Patient Administration Division of the U.S. army, I was in charge of financial information from bookkeeping and payroll accounting to Human Resources support and salary administration.

Managing financial flows I was also thrilled when working with people and satisfying their needs. That’s why I was involved into recruitment and orientation as well as training and human resource policy. Later on I followed the path of counseling recruits and developing training programs. This work was bringing me a lot of pleasure as it involved research and development of new approaches which contributed to the enhancement of the staff skills as well as mine. My recruitment and counseling experience made me understand people better.

Managing people and bringing changes into their perceptions and beliefs requires robust leadership skills. Particularly these are important when you are going to bring in changes through different training initiatives. I successfully managed to implement professional development programs and to make them as effective as possible. The next fascinating aspect in business is the ability to manage financial flows more efficiently as it is all about well-being of people and their families. Working as a payroll specialist I was aware of the importance of my work for hundreds of people.

Processing multi-state payrolls for over 800 employees I felt responsibility for the prosperity of every of them. Through my career these two aspects – financial and humanitarian – intertwined into one amazing journey into life of thousands of people. During my studies I am going to incorporate substantial skills acquired when working as a payroll specialist and a recruiter. My personal statement about education is that it is the way to accomplish oneself and bring in a change into the life of other people.

During the years of work I became aware of the need to initiate these changes in myself. I have a strong intention to enlarge my knowledge about business and accomplish it with theory. My practical experience will be a good back up for generating new knowledge and developing new vision of management in all spheres of business. What attracts me in new educational opportunities is a possibility to know new aspects of business management which have not been so evident for me during my professional career.

I am sure that new knowledge will help me to understand certain issues which are out of my understanding due to limits of everyday life and my job functions. Corporate finance, marketing, international business are areas in the scope of my interest. My goal is to enhance my knowledge and develop new ideas while working closely with specialists of different disciplines. I am looking forward to studies which will help me to keep myself abreast with innovative approaches and ideas in Business Administration.

I consider myself to be well-suited for pursuing a degree in BA. As I came to this decision carefully and thoughtfully, I am confident that I will have no trouble fulfilling requirements. There is no reason to doubt that I have the skills best suited for this program: leadership skills, perseverance, motivation, strategic planning and improvising, and ability to work as a team leader as well as a team member. I am always thinking outside the box, entertaining new ideas, integrating and incorporating them into my way of thinking.

My insistence gives me opportunities to gain maximum results of my efforts and after a successful completion of this program, I will look forward to new educational achievements.
