Download file to see previous pages Do I say a reputed school? It can as well be an ordinary school, and I am sure with what I have learned from my elders and school teachers, I will be able to evolve it into a reputed school. I am a thorough optimist, and there is no scope for pessimism in my scheme of things. I compare life to a sea. In the sea, the waves are bound to be there. Having gone for the sea bath, there is no question of being afraid of the oncoming waves. If the waves are powerful I’ll duck them. When waves are friendly, I’ll dance with them. When the waves are normal I’ll swim toward my destination. Just like swimming becomes more and more perfect through experience, taking decisions in life is a matter of practice, based on the strength of past experiences and guidance from teachers and elders.

I will never admit defeat in my life on any issue and work hard and intelligently to achieve my goals. My career ambition is to occupy the chair of Principal in an educational institution. I am fully aware that this is a chair of dual responsibility. Firstly that of exercising overall control of the teaching system in the institution and secondly related to office administration. Both are equally important. The parents would like to admit their wards to an educational institution that is administered well. I would like to be an instrument to further the goodwill of the institution created by the past administrators/principals and in light of the knowledge gained, I would like to experiment with my innovative ideas.

Having chosen my future career as the Principal of an educational institution, I know that I have got to imbibe the sterling qualities of leadership in students and the members of the faculty. Internal motivators indicate the strength of the inner world of an individual. I am aware that I need to be morally strong and should inspire both the members of the faculty as well as the students. I believe in mixing freely with the faculty and students and at the same time keeping the dignity of the chair of the Principal. I know that I have to be disciplined first and then expect discipline from others.

I treat every crisis as an opportunity I would like to provide full freedom for all their creative endeavors. I am prepared to condone a hundred mistakes for the success of one creative, original result if in the pursuit of that one has worked sincerely. I work for the sake of work and without any motivating desires and my single-pointed aim is to bring name and fame to the educational institution that I will be heading. I do not have any craze for personal secular rewards, but I desire that my institution should set high educational standards.

Some of the examples of the behavior of intrinsic motivation is participating in a music competition because one finds that activity internally rewarding. One gets inner joy that cannot be estimated in monetary terms. Some individuals choose tough career options like music, over safe careers like engineering, or medical practitioner, even though in the former the reward aspect is difficult to achieve. One may or may not succeed as the musician considered from the monetary point of view and yet the concerned individual goes for it, for he finds it difficult to carry on without pursuing music.

There are several such activities where creativity and internal satisfaction is the consideration, like making efforts to find a solution to the puzzle as it involves challenge and fun and one applies all his mental faculties, to find the solution and win the game. Such personas are good sportspersons, and they play it for the sheer excitement of it. I wish to encourage all such natural talents within my student community, and support them if necessary, with liberal scholarships. I am also aware that different tools of intrinsic motivation mentioned above need to be practiced on a moderate scale, and excess of everything is bad.

Some teachers have the habit of praising the students lavishly regularly, for achievements of a moderate scale. That will not help the students to develop confidence in the real sense. Such type of initiatives dampens the initiative of the students, as they begin to think that they will get praise anyhow even for doing minimal work. That I encourage intrinsic motivation does not mean that I am not for extrinsic motivation. They are alternative beats of the same heart, and one needs to evaluate what is suitable in a given situation. ...Download file to see next pages Read More
