?Starting a career after a high school Introduction A career or vacation refers to a full time job for from which one sustains life. According o this definition, a career is therefore a lifelong activity that requires effective consideration. A career should not prove cumbersome implying that before settling into one, a person must consider a number of factors to ensure complete satisfaction from the career. One of such key factors is interest. This refers to the self-felt willingness to divulge into a specific activity, interests vary greatly thereby resulting in diversification. A career should excite, this way one does not feel the pressure to meet objectives as they come naturally. Additionally, the success in any career depends on the strengths and abilities of an individual. The two should therefore influence the career choices that one makes (Carter, Kevin and David 30. After high school, people are often able to identify their strengths, weaknesses, and interests. The inclination of the tree especially in the academic work should influence the subsequent career choices. After making a choice of which career type to pursue, the first step is always to register in an institution of higher learning such as a university or a collage for the professional training. The two offer different levels of training but both provide level entry skills into the career. The level of academic training therefore not withstanding, people have equal opportunity at any career provided they develop adequate interests in the same. Interest is a motivation that makes people derives pleasure in the things they do. For example, with interests, one is likely to excel in the higher academic career training either at a university or at a collage. The academic institutions offer both theoretical and practical training in the different course. A successful completion of a training program for either a degree or a diploma course will therefore equip an individual with the elementary skills in a career. The practical aspects of the training occur in the forms of field attachments and the subsequent internship programs. These offer the students an effective opportunity to assess their interests practically. It is in such programs that students assess their progresses thereby developing effective personalities to ensure success in the specific career programs. It is not always late to consider a change in career at such points despite the related costs. Career just as stated earlier should be enjoyable and one must therefore ensure that a success offers such factors of satisfaction without which they should change careers at whichever level. After the successful completion of the training programs, people enter into the market commonly referred to as the job market. This is the ultimate testing grounds for the relative successes that people obtain in colleges and universities. People enter the market differently depending on their abilities coupled with their interests. To most people, a level job is always the best way into the market. This refers to a situation in which one is employed by a corporate organization. Such organizations are profit oriented and therefore trade I labor, they pay for the services that one offers them. As an employee, a person works under binding codes and completes the assignments as designed by the mangers. Different people view employment different, to others it could be the ultimate career while to others it could be the starting point to a career. Whichever the case, people must derive satisfaction in the jobs they do. After collages, people often serve in minor positions at the company since they still lack the experience of undertaking serious assignments without the assistance and the supervision of an established employee of the firm. It is therefore natural to hold different positions at the organization. Whichever the position in the organization, one must ensure satisfaction and interest in the job. This way, the career does not become cumbersome. With time, people earn both time and experience at the organization and in the specific industry of operation. With the increase in the skills, they should earn a promotion to higher positions at the organization. Promotion and career advancement are effective management tools that mangers use as motivational factors to their employees (Brown and Robert 65). Occasionally the managers should always promote their employees implying that with the effective mindset, one stands an effective opportunity for promotion and career improvement. The nature of career advancement dictates that one conducts himself or herself accordingly and develops personalities that will increase their ability to obtain the necessary experience faster. Experience in an industry is an asset since should the organization fail to recognize it, one reserves the willingness to change companies by applying to other job openings in other companies. People should thereby gain satisfaction from their careers and the positions they serve in the companies. In the absence of such, it is often advisable to either shift careers or change the employer. However, experience alone does not warrant an improvement especially in employment. While some rely entirely on experience, others increase their knowledge by registering in postgraduate programs and therefore boost their curriculum vitae. A successful career grows; an individual must therefore undertake every activity to ensure the growth of the career. Additionally while most people seek employment as the entry strategy into a career, another category gets into business. Others may also seek employment only to accumulate the capital after which they shift into business. Business offers a limitless opportunity and the nature of the market is both challenging and competitive enough to invoke both creativity and charisma to ensure success. This career path requires versatility since the market presents a number of challenges that will require creative yet effective solutions. Entrepreneurship does not only rely on the availability of capital but also the availability of the most effective ideas and problem solving skills. Unlike in employment, in this career path an individual becomes a self-manger and therefore reserves the opportunities for growth (Jackson 33). In retrospect, there are different types of career opportunities. However, they require effective consideration a feature that dictates that people undertake the different study programs in schools and colleges. Once in the job market, people are likely to face numerous challenges such as competition and career frustrations. Some of such frustrations arise from the lack of immediate employment after completing an academic program. It is therefore a prerequisite to develop appropriate personalities to ensure that one develop versatile personality. Knowledge is expandable and people can acquire different levels of understanding of anything. This dictates that in order to develop an exciting and satisfying career, one should acquire as much knowledge of the industry and related fields in order to have an elaborate understanding of the operations of the industry. This way, a career becomes less stressful. Works cited Brown, Steven D, and Robert W. Lent. Career Development and Counseling: Putting Theory and Research to Work. Hoboken, N.J: Wiley, 2013.
