Web Site Evaluation Discover Nursing Website The internet can never be fully trusted for authenti or credibility. All websites should be taken with a grain of salt unless you research and check them. This is especially true in the health fields, where incorrect information can be vital to a decision. I decided to research and a find a website to help other people evaluate how well the website I picked would help their needs. The website I found was Discover Nursing, located at Discovernursing.com. I managed to find this website by using the key words "nursing", "health", and "care", in a regular Google search.

Discover Nursing is owned and operated by Johnson and Johnson Services Inc. All of the contents of the web page are copyrighted from 2002-2006. I could find no one single author listed for the site, however contact information is given. There is a section of the site called contact that gives you a form to fill out to contact the website. It also gives an email to use in case the other portion of the site doesn't work, or if you simply just want to contact the site via email. I could also not find the most recent time the site has been updated, but it looks like it is regularly kept up.

The website covers several different topics. These topics range from profiles of people in nursing, nursing students, nurses with disabilities, men in nursing, minorities in nursing, the basics of nursing, nursing as a second career, nursing organizations, nursing careers, nursing school accreditation, job opportunities, benefits and salaries, flexibility, and the site also includes nursing scholarships searches, nursing program searches, nursing program without waiting lists, preparing for nursing school, as well as other miscellaneous nursing resources.

The layout of the site works quite well, with easy to use links at the top of the page. All of the links I tried out worked fine, and it was very easy to make me way throughout the page. The site seems to be very professional and balances, and does not seem to show any apparent bias towards any certain side or another. From the reading I did, I found it to be helpful and informative, with quite a bit of information contained in it. There were no advertisements while I was surfing the site, so it leads me to believe the site works without any ads running.

The site seems to be built around the needs of health care providers, offering numerous tools and research options for people going into, and looking on going into the health field. To someone without a medical background this site has a lot of useful information that could help them find out what they are looking for, I would highly recommend it. The design of the site is another positive. It offers a very colorful, easy to read design. The toolbars area all brightly colored, and it also changes colors depending on what area of the site you are visiting.

The entire site is very eye pleasing, and a nice site to browse. Works Cited: Discover Nursing. Retrieved October 31, 2007, Web site: /www.discovernursing.com
