Furthermore the research will include specific examples of Prada’s designs and an analysis of how these designs did/did not appeal to the consumer psyche, for instance photography of all design and art examples. Introduction According to research Miuccia Prada was an Italian woman born in a family that practiced fashion design. She was a Political Scientist who possessed PhD in her field of political Science. Grosvenor, C (2008).Miuccia inherited Prada Company in 1978. from her mother though the company was founded in 1913 by her grandmother which used to manufacture luxury goods. She has grown to be a fashion designer and an entrepreneur. Miuccia didn’t have a strong academic background concerning fashion design because but this did not deter her from exercising her own creativity and was given time to show her craftsmanship. She tried her best to bring forth her ideas into the company to change it for better. Miuccia was an Italian woman born 10 may 1949 in a family that practiced fashion design. Miuccia inherited Prada Company in 1978 from her mother though the company was founded in 1913 by her grandmother, which used to manufacture luxury goods. Constance,(1998). She tried her best to bring forth her ideas into the company to change it for better. Miuccia met with her husband Patrizio Bertelli who was also a businessperson at the age of 17. He later became part of this big growing company. Bertelli acted as the manager of Prada Company. In 1979, she released her first backpacks as her first set which was made of a military black nylon. Constance,(1998).This initial release did not show any success because it was difficult to sell owing to poor advertising and high-prices; however, this was later to become her first commercial hit. According to Constance (1998),In 1992, Prada debuted the less expensive Miu Miu (Miuccia's nickname), who instilled inspiration in her personal wardrobe it. The following year the company expanded its territories across Europe with new locations within Florence, Paris, New York City and Madrid. The company released a shoe line followed by the classic Prada handbag and all the products where seen sensational and appealing. The handbag was quite fashionable and practical simply worthwhile. After Miuccia married Bertelli, they released ready to wear collection for women, which had waist less, and narrow belts causing the company to skyrocket their popularity after the fashion became a worldwide design. This made Prada to be awarded the Council of Fashion Designers of America award for accessories. Later in 1995, the Prada bagged another award from CFDA as a “designer of the year” after launching ready to wear men’s collection whose sales counted for 20%. I.e. sales were at US$210 million. After winning the award, Prada advanced and grew by acquiring new firms. It also acquired shares in the Gucci Group. However after Bertelli became a partner of the Gucci Group he tried to outdo it by his determination to hold a leading portfolio of luxury brands. Prada’s merger and purchasing power declined in the 2000’s though this did mean that the company was at verge of collapse. Prada Company is the main buyer from the Turkish leather factory DESA. Prada was called upon by the Clean Clothes Campaign, a lobar rights organization based in Europe, to respect the freedom of association at the factory after it was found guilty by the Turkish Supreme Court of dismissing workers illegally who joined a union. This has made Prada to be known well for its practice of casting new models to walk exclusively in their runways shows. Conclusion Prada is believed to be the pioneer and the first person in the field of designing and fashion of handbags, from this experience Prada designs become popular world wide. Prada has occupied stores in most of Western countries which earns her free advertisements from most of the top celebrities who are prone of carrying Prada handy bags. The Prada look has certainly evolved and diversified over the years, and Miuccia gets the credit for steering Prada in the right direction and retained the highest excellence.
