Most people have shown great interest in phones through daily purchases and the continuing advancement in the mobile phone technology shows that there is great interest of people in mobile phones. About 85 percent among Americans are owners of mobile phones. Different people like different elements associated with phone usage and ownership. Most people like phones because the can stay connected with individuals they care about such as family and friends. On the other hand, some individuals may not like the fact that they can be conducted at any given time. Phones play a major role in keeping people busy when they are bored. However, it strains eyes when one takes long using the phone which could lead to eye problems (Lahore, 2013). Overall mobile phone owners are likely to look at their mobile phones as more of time savers contrary to time waters. Some look at the costs as well as constant disruptions involved in the possession of mobile while others see the convenience of saving time. 3.2 PROBLEM/OPPORTUNITY In an attempt to understand peoples’ usage of mobile phones and the way they feel that their mobile phones have affected them, a survey was carried out that questioned cell owners to answer in their own words about what they like most as well as the thing they least like about their mobile phones. Each of the questions provoked a wide responses range even though insufficient themes stood out from the park. 3.3 GOAL OF THE STUDY The survey was conducted to understand the real effects of mobile phones in general. The main reason is to come up with clear statistics of how mobile phone users and owners feel about their phones. Most of them see only the positive benefits that are associated with phone usage living out or lacking knowledge of any negative effects. Research Question 3 What prevents you from purchasing a phone? In this question, the study was seeking to understand the reason as to why some individuals did not have cell phones. It also did seek an understanding as to whether such individuals were willing to purchase one. If yes the why and if no then what is the reason. 4. LITERATURE REVIEW 4.1 Overview The availability of mobile phones is a great has changed people’s lives completely. Some will say that life is impossible without mobile phones. Most people today use mobile phones in a positive manner in organization as well as maintenance of their own social networks. Others use them to conduct their businesses while others claim that they are life savers meaning that they have assisted them in matters of life and death. The use and impact of mobile phones may apply different between ages. For instance the youth could manage their social as well as academic aspects through their phones. On the other end, the youth in most cases have send or received sexually explicit messages through mobile phones. Many adults have had their businesses run smoothly through the communication facilitated by mobile phones. These are positive effects of mobile phones. However, there are individuals who fee that cell phones are not as of advantage as everyone would think. There are negative effects that may not be realised by many. 4.2 SUMMARY OF ARTICLES Impact of Mobile Phone According to the writer, quite unexpectedly, a new technology has stated to create a difference to both consumers and producers. The shortcomings include that they can encourage bad behaviour especially with the youth among other negative effects. 4.5 METHOD A study was conducted where data collection was done through interviews conducted over landline and mobile phones as well phone to people with and others without mobile phones. The interviewees included adults above 18 years of age as well as young people. The interviews were conducted in English and involved open ended questions. Random digit dial was done to represent all continental US with access to cellular phones or landline. Probability was used in selection of numbers. 4.6 RESULTS Research Question 1 The research question 1 answer are represented in the graph below as found by the survey. Results show that mobile phones have both negative and positive effects. The impact human life in different ways, however, the positive effects is more compared to negative effects. Most cell phone owners have not seen the reason to upgrade. 29% do not want to own a more advanced phone while another 5% lack interest. 2% of those with no smartphones have plans to get one. Discussion for RQ 3 15% of adults in US do not have mobile phones. Most of them are not interested in having one. 38% are happy using landline or need no cell phone. 11% do not like them. 21% say that cell phones are expensive. 4.8. CONCLUSION Mobile phones have become almost part of life in human life today. In efforts for examining mobile phones broader effects on human life, there are several effects, which could come as a result of usage or rather ownership of a mobile phone. The effects are both positive as well as negative. The effects have indicated that most individuals who use mobile phones see the beneficial effects of mobile technologies. There are also some drawbacks that are related to constant connectivity (as well as mental temptations) that are offered by cell phones that most individuals forget or have no knowledge about. Most people like mobile phones because the help they keen in touch with friends as well as family. Others are happy to have them.
