Introduction As technology takes big leaps in the modern world an Internet network has become the necessity of any small business. Network design isan iterative process, encompassing topological design, network-synthesis, and network-realization, and is aimed at ensuring that a new network or service meets the needs of the subscriber and operator. The process can be tailored according to each new network or service.
This is an extremely important process that must be performed before the establishment of a new telecommunications network or service.
Steps in Network Designing
The best Network design for a coffee shop according to a tight budget that Miss Becca is following would be decided by selecting a type of system, selecting a protocol and network switching device, type of cable used, type of communication device to use and the internet service to be used.
The first step would be to select the type of system. The type I would recommend is a file-server system as it is comparatively cheaper than client/server or terminal server. The data accessed by the users is stored on a single server and their own stations do not have any memory storage devices.
The second step would be selecting a protocol to be used. A protocol is a set of rules governing communication within and between computing endpoints. In our situation it would be best to use TCP/IP. Using TCP, applications on networked hosts can create connections to one another. The protocol guarantees reliable and in-order delivery of data from sender to receiver. TCP also distinguishes data for multiple connections by concurrent applications (e.g., Web server and e-mail server) running on the same host.
TCP supports many of the Internets most popular application protocols and resulting applications, including the World Wide Web, e-mail, File Transfer Protocol and Secure Shell. The network switch or just switch plays an integral part in the vast majority of current Ethernet local area networks or LANs. Mid-to-large sized LANs contain a number of linked managed switches. Soho or home networks typically use a single switch or simply an all-purpose device such as a DSL router, WiFi Router or Gateway which may include a small embedded Ethernet switch. Here we will use a WiFi Router as it would help us in both a wireless connection and the LAN.
For the cabling we would use UTP wires as they are the best suited to the scenario. Both in price and the size of the network. Unshielded twisted pair is the wiring that is being commonly used in telephone companies and businesses nowadays. To decrease cross talk between the two wires in a UTP, two insulated copper wires are wrapped around each other. Every signal carried by a UTP needs both the wires.
The coffee house should purchase N.I.C. cards, WiFi routers, UTP wires and a good internet connection for the customers use.
The internet connection that should be purchased by the coffee house should be a Dedicated Satellite connection.
A network design is a very complicated task. It should be performed very carefully in order to avoid fatal mistakes. Actually it’s a one time expense hence special care should be taken. The network design provides the basis for the infrastructure of a Network.

...Network Design Insert Insert Network design requires give-and-take to achieve business goals. What four trade-offs would need to be made to achieve maximum security of the system? Cost and time trade-off. The time taken to complete a particular activity can be compromised i.e. reduced by investing more in the activity (Pino, 2014). However, this should be within the acceptable limits. Thus, the time took to analyze the network to completing it is dependent on the amount of cash we invest in carrying out this activity. Performance of the network and security tradeoff. Every business loves to have high performance as regards to their...
