ADDIE Model: Implement Training Prototype on Time Management HRD 369 – Developing Occupational and Training Programs 14 November ADDIE Model: Implement Training Prototype on Time Management Overview This part of the ADDIE Model training prototype aims to present the plan to ensure the effective and smooth delivery of the Time Management Course to students. This aims to check the course delivery format to ensure that logistics and management issues will be avoided or at least minimized. As shown in the develop stage of this training prototype, the course is aimed at college students in order to teach them time management skills. From the modules presented in the develop stage, it is clear that the course will be in a class lecture/discussion set-up, with the use of visual aids and guidance of a trainer. Teacher Preparation Facilitator Plan Identification The course will be delivered as an open course available to all college freshmen. Trainer qualifications will be based on the following: ability to identify the immediate learning needs prior to, and during the course program ability to effectively incorporate learning objectives during class lectures and discussions analyze activities and apply proper implementation of the activities in order to facilitate effective learning among learners ability to provide constructive feedback during training sessions ability to facilitate group activities and encourage overall participation ability to assess and evaluate the learning progress of every student Schedule Ideally, the Time Management Training Course is designed to be on a Wednesday, a Thursday, and a Friday. Training of trainers should be scheduled on the Monday and the Tuesday preceding the course target days. During these two days, the trainers and facilitators will undergo a comprehensive brainstorming based on the course modules. This means that every trainer and facilitator should be made familiar with the flow of the course, the objectives, and the teaching style. Since all trainers and facilitators involved in the program are experienced in the subject matter, explanation of the course content is necessary only to ensure that everyone will have similar objectives and topics in mind. Train the Trainer Training of the trainers will be in a face-to-face, open-discussion and lecture format. This is mainly because trainers and facilitators that will be chosen to teach the course are experts in the field of time management and its training. Materials needed will be the modules to be taught during the training and learner group information. The training and facilitators will all engage in a brainstorming and open-discussion session and go through the modules one by one. Each will be encouraged to present their inputs and decide from among themselves how the flow of the lessons should be. The main trainer or facilitator for specific topics or activities will also be discussed and noted to be included in the training manual. The manual will be provided on the second day of the “Train the Trainer” program. Training of trainers is best done in the place or room where the training proper will be held. This is to provide the trainers and facilitators enough ocular of the place in case extra planning is necessary particularly for group activities. The large number of participants should be highly considered especially due to the training activities. Main Trainer Portfolio Nairobi Carroll is a dynamic and accomplished professional offering 7 years of experience in Time Management Skills Trainings. She is known for her presentation skills, curriculum design, and facilitation. She holds a PhD. in Industrial Psychology, and has worked as a Guidance Counselor at the University of Pennsylvania for 5 years. Heidi Deno is the woman behind several Time Management Skills Curriculum for various learner demographics. Most of her works are published in many highly-acclaimed business magazines. She holds an MA in Human Resources, and has worked in several multinational companies for several years. Facilitators will consist of several faculty members mostly coming from the Social Sciences Department of the University. Nairobi Carroll and Heidi Deno will both take turns in the main training lessons. In case of an unexpected absence of one of them, the other can take the place of the absent trainer, since both have vast experiences in the field. Student Preparation Learner Plan Identification Module I Purpose: This module is designed to help students identify the causes of time management failures. Teaching Approach: Lectures and individual activities Learning approach: Cognitive Module 2 Purpose: This module is designed to help students identify the effects of time management failures. Teaching Approach: Lectures, participative discussion, and individual activities Learning approach: Cognitive Module 3 Purpose: This module is designed to help students incorporate all lessons learned in Modules 1 & 2 with the concept of flexibility in creating effective time management plans. Teaching Approach: Participative discussion, presentation, and group activities Learning approach: Cognitive, affective, and psychomotor Schedule Ideal Class Size: All Freshmen Students (first year college) Students will be asked to fill-out sheets to express their interest to join the training program. The sheets will be handed out to all first year students, and announcements will be placed on strategic locations like bulletin boards. Coordination with faculty members will also be done for help in announcing the program in their respective freshmen classes. Meeting place during the 3-day training will be at the entrance of the auditorium. Participant's fee will be for $20.00, payable upon registration at the university registrar's office. Participant's sheet should be presented at the registrar upon payment for the training. Pre-course Communication After gathering the list of all the interested participants, a letter of announcement containing detailed information will be handed out and posted at the bulletin boards. Confirmation emails/messages will also be sent to interested students. MEMORANDUM TO: All Participants FROM: Time Management Training Facilitator DATE: November 16, 2011 SUBJECT: 2011 Fall Class, “Time Management Skills for College Students” Dear Participants, This is regarding the Time Management Skills training, a non-credit course designed to help students develop deeper knowledge in managing their personal and public time. Training dates are Nobermber 23-25, 2011, Wednesday to Friday. The program will be held at the university auditorium from 5pm-7pm on all days. All participants are required to be at the entrance of the auditorium approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the training. All materials needed for the training will be provided for by the facilitating groups. The skills and information you will learn and develop in this training will definitely aid you in your whole college and even professional experience in the future. The facilitating groups and the trainers are all looking forward to be part of your learning, and we guarantee that this program that this will be a fun learning experience for all of us. Logistics and Requests Room set-up: university auditorium Time needed to complete the task: November 23-25, 2011, 5pm-7pm. Other materials needed: projector, visual aids, module handouts, activity papers, colored pens or crayons The materials needed to complete the training program is minimal, requiring only the use of the university auditorium and school projector. Visual aids, handouts, and activity materials like papers and colored pens will all be provided for by the facilitating groups, in coordination with the university. Tracking This is a non-credit course, and most of the activities will be only to ensure that students are able to absorb the information as much as possible. There will be no records of exams or scores to be kept for future assessments. One consideration would be to keep the individual activity sheets of the students for reference purposes, in case they will have issues that need to be addressed during their stay in the university. There is a probability that the Guidance Counseling Department would find the activity sheets useful for counseling purposes. Begin Training After acquiring the approval of the university for the required location, time, and materials, system will be checked on the Friday preceding the training week. This will be because trainer's training will be held on the Monday of the training week. All materials should be prepared and checked by then to ensure everything is working properly. Trainers will also need to be able to test the projector and the visual aids to be used for them to be familiar with the training set-up. Computer systems should be attached to a projector. Back-up computers are necessary. Due to the large population of the participants, ventilation and a/c units should all be checked. Lighting required for projector visibility should also be checked.
