PROSPECTUS Literature and social change is an interesting topic that I am going to discuss. Literature is written work like the artistic work and social means what relates to the society or its status. Literature and social changes are occurring in our daily lives. The changes are taking place due to many reasons which include advancement in technology. Technology change is changing the way people are communicating and socializing. Technology change is leading to development advancement. Culture and social behaviors are changing in the direction of technology. Literature on the other side is changing making people think differently. Humanities and the work of art not only give a description of our earth but also in a unique way makes us realize that we have power to change our familiarmethodsof action and perception.It means people need to make informed decisions for social and literature change to fit in the society. I am going to find out how literature and social changes happen. Which directions literature changes will be one of the questions I will be discuss. When and where the changes take place and which examples I will use will be equally important. I will also address the impact of this changes in our daily lives whether positive, negative or both. How do the status of our society affect us and the image which artistic work gives us will also be considered in the discussion. How the outcome of social and literature change will also be a great concern in the discussion by use of citations. Literature change is most important as it gives an image of our earth. It not only gives the image of our earth but also proposes ways and actions that we should take in direction of the changes as we have power to do so. Social change is equally important as it shapes our moral behavior sometimes. Life is characterized to change. Needs increase each day and as well vary. Our community must change in order to cope up with the increasing social needs. It will grow chaotic or stagnate if it doesn’t change. Stagnation makes the members leave due to limited or lack of opportunity that contributes to earning a living. Acceptable moral values will break breakdown due to chaos. It will lead to variation in needs which will deviate away the resources from the welfare of the community. Even though, change just occurs naturally, planned change is good. Changes that are planned don’t demise the community like some of those occurring naturally. The community in large, therefore, needs to change to cope up with the needs that change daily. According to this article, William Morris starts by explaining what he means by calling himself a socialist. He says thatsocialism or common wealth is a situation in a society where people are not recognized as poor or rich, master’s man or master, overworked or idle, hear-sick hand workers or brain-sick brain workers. In this situation, people live in equality, managing their resources economically and not harming anybody in the society. Being in society like this or desiring our society to be like this William means that he is a socialist. He wanted to support socialism and started by joining a socialist body. He however was ignorant of economics. He noted that socialism was necessary but required anarchism which is impossible. He developed civilization hatred due to studying history and loving and practicing art. He became a socialist and says that it is the authority of art to set a real and reasonable life which everyone should try to achieve even if there is opposition which they should try to resist. Morris being a socialist is significant to social change as he addresses the importance of socialism. Though socialism is difficult to attain due to economics and anarchism requirement, it is very important to everyone. It is important because it has led to abolition of slavery and led to industrial revolution. Social change is necessary, and those resisting change should be shown its importance as it leads to, for example, feminist movements. He opposed culture that he says is studying perfection with anarchy. In his comparison, Arnold used a bee and contrasted it with a spider.He describes anarchy as being the widespread mood in England and their new democracy lacking the right direction. He spoke of culture, and insisted on bondage to machinery, with the prone of valuing machinery in its end without considering anything else, because at the end it will still remain to be valuable. He categorized the society of England into the barbarians who differentiated behaviors and inability to access ideas. He also categorized them into the Philistines, who were best at nonconformity of religious, having good molarity but lacking sweetness and light, and into the Populace who were still blind and raw. Philistines were the key to culture and were most influential part of the society. According to Arnold, the nation’s strength was their strength and its crudeness was their crudeness. It should be noted that the way people think nationally is very crucial to social change. It was a necessity for the Philistine to be, therefore, humanized and educated. He saw nothing in one class society but instead a state. A state is a real repository and organ of the nation in large presenting everything else that is best than a single class society. There is no summary that will do justice to anarchy and culture. For the society to change social activities, they need to communicate and various ways of communicating are changing due to advancement of technology, which also leads to literature change. Literature changes will also lead tochanging the way we think and this should be an area of concernit will, therefore, provide which is a logical structure and facilitates the conversation in the field around the chief issue and highlight the connections between research agendas and the scholars which may be difficult in discerning. According to this book, there is both disruptive and positive outcomes that resulted in importation of religions such as Islam and Christianity in the social structure of West Africa. It also supports to the extent in which the new flourishing religious cults and sects enable the people from the region to adjusting to the requirements of social change. For instance, it led to conflict among the Christian and Islamic religion each suggesting their religion was had the best teachings. However, both teachings in the religions changed moral behavior of the people which was indeed very good. In the book, attention was given especially to the Igbo in Nigeria and Akan of Ghana. In Akan, Christianity changed their mode of worshipping to church fellowship. It examined how the people in the past were experiencing tension from the witchcraft practices and beliefs. The writer expresses how social change came to the people of West African through the impact of new religions. Social change can be good or bad depending on the direction of change. Some people can change into culture behaviors that make morality of people to be upright. Islamic religion imposed a custom of a man to have a maximum of four wives and Christianity a maximum of one wife. The kind of social change from the culture that was previously of having as many wives as you can was not a moral, upright behavior. Literature for example in humanities and the arts areas have a big impact in the society even if in recent history it is undermined. Through the work of art in schools and other areas, scientists, and humanities belief it is a way of representing the world by imagination. Literature change is, therefore, significant in everyday life. Most of the changes that occur that relates to literature or social change are stimulated by technological change.
