ment of Purpose I decided to pursue a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell in the hope that I would acquire specialized knowledge and experience in Information Systems and Networks. Additionally, I believe that further study will help focus my career goals and provide direction, as I become a professional researcher, either in an academic or commercial setting. I studied Electrical Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. My undergraduate degree project work involved studying Energy Efficient Office Equipment.

Working on this specialized project gave me insight into how electricity used by office equipment can represent a significant portion of energy consumption in commercial buildings and data centers. My project also concentrated on the environmental and economic benefits of this equipment. My research focused on Energy Star appliances, user education, energy saving estimations, evaluations of technological performance, and reduction of electricity leaks. I was also able to gauge how much energy certain office equipment could offer and emit.

This experience also helped me develop my research skills in addition to my quantitative and analytical reasoning capabilities. After graduation, I was recruited into an electrical engineering position with NCS, the premier Internet service provider in Ghana. In this position, I learned how to design local and wide coverage networks and how to deploy these networks using spread spectrum radios and Cisco technology. My thirst for more knowledge in this area led me to pursue a master's degree in Information Technology at American InterContinental University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

As part of the curriculum, I undertook a project to design a Java Web-based online shopping mall. The main goal of the project was to use the Java Enterprise platform to build an enterprise application, which helped me enhance my programming skills. I currently serve as the Lead Test Engineer for ISI Telemanagement Solutions, Inc., where I develop plans that aid my team in regression test call accounting and usage reporting software and ensure the software adheres to design specifications and industry standards.

I often take the opportunity to interact with clients and ascertain how the company can best tailor the software to their individual needs. Therefore, I am also involved in data collection surveys and data analysis that aid me in designing user interfaces. Furthermore, I outline specifications for new developments that should be incorporated into the software. Research in areas like networking and security of wireless systems pique my interest as well. Other areas of interest are spectrum sharing models, signal processing and communication systems, bandwidth utilization, and efficiency in accessing communication strength using alternative media.

Once I obtain my master's degree in this field, I am also interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in the future. I will bring diverse work experience to the department, and since the Master's of Engineering Program at Cornell University is intended for students interested in development and design, my participation will be a major step forward in achieving my long-term academic and professional goals.
